We had such a lovely evening at the Locanda del Capitano. From the moment we arrived, we were so well looked after. The food was exceptional as was the wine, produced by chef patron Giancarlo. Thank you for a wonderful evening Giancarlo and the team.

Such a terrible restaurant. No love for food. Pretentious, trying to look fancy but the food is really not of good quality. First bad sign. The chef is the one taking ordered and spends more time in the front than in the kitchen. Beside this. We were still excited to eat there. But the mis en bouche arrived and confirmed our doubts. Bread was stale, and the taste was just not there at all. Then the pasta first dish came in and the truffle had zero taste and the pasta had no salt. The steak was way over cooked and the desserts were terrible. Add to this a decor from a bad movie from the 80s cliché chic but just bad taste. I don’t like to criticize restaurants who are trying hard to do something. Sometimes it is not there, but at least some people are trying. This restaurant is not. Pretentious, trying to be fancy but such a disappointment. The chef clearly doesn’t care since he doesn’t cook anything anymore. Or maybe he just lost what got him a ‘bib gourmand’ in 2020…

Yours is an example of gratuitous malice. I'd like to tell you more, and I would have appreciated doing it in person, as we call it, face-to-face. Before booking a restaurant, I recommend you do your research and choose one based on your needs.

Chef Giancarlo welcomed us personally and made us feel special and spoiled! Food and drink delicious - the chocolate salted caramel amazingness we had on our last course of the tasting menu was voted by all three of us as THE BEST DESSERT we'd ever tasted! And the pasta course with tomatoes done three ways sounds so simple but was also INSANE. Highly recommend!

The restaurant is located in the coziest location in a small village, we felt like we were in an Italian movie. Giancarlo made us feel so welcome and made sure we had the best experience! We had the steak and it was unbelievable, so good! We also had some pasta dishes that were excellent. Highly recommend this cute, cozy and tasty restaurant!

A little gem in the mountains of Umbrië! We were surprised by this restaurant in the picturesque Montone with a beautiful regional and gourmant menu. All the dishes were very tasty and well presented. The wine pairing was excellent, the service very smooth with a personal touch and the atmosfere very pleasant. Definitely worth a trip!

Great restaurant and great ambiance! Chef personalizes the experience for each table and makes you feel like you are in his home. Each course was better than the next. We had veal tartare, duck ravioli, grilled octopus and lamb. Dessert was fabulous - chocolate and Parmesan ice cream. So yummy!
