Today my wife and I visited this highly recommended restaurant, but the experience was disappointing. Our reservation was for 14:15, yet at noon we were called and asked to come earlier because the restaurant planned to close at 14:30. As I had a meeting before at the end they agreed we could still come at 14:15. Service was friendly, but the food was below average. The scallops were buried under breadcrumbs, the pumpkin soup arrived almost cold and tasteless. My cod was very salty. My wife’s gnocchi with cuttlefish ink were so unpleasant that she could not eat them at all. The bread was plain supermarket white bread—unacceptable for a restaurant of this level. Dessert looked nice but was extremely dry. Even after we explained that the gnocchi were not edible, they were still fully charged, along with the coperto. Ironically, the only flawless things were the olive oil and the mineral water. We came to celebrate my wife’s birthday, but left still hungry and unhappy.

My wife and I came here for dinner. The restaurant is small but very cozy. As soon as we arrived, we were seated by very pleasant and professional staff. The menu is very interesting. I had pickled anchovies as a starter and pasta with black ink sauce, musky octopus, and Taggiasca olives as my main course. My wife chose Amberjack tartare as a starter and Slow-cooked cod as her main course. Everything was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the marinated anchovies. We finished with dessert. I had gnocchi stuffed with plums and my wife had apple pie with ice cream. It was a fantastic ending. The gnocchi with plums was luxurious. We chose Vermentino to accompany our meal, which was very good. The overall impression was great and we really enjoyed the evening. The price is absolutely reasonable. If we are ever in Trieste again, we will be happy to return.

I was in a exploratory mood- don’t like anchovies- but ordered them and it was SOOOO good! Fresh, lemony, not fishy at all! Also tried the octopus and black ink sauce pasta- again, out of my comfort zone and really liked it!

Some of the finest seafood dishes I've ever tasted, certainly in Trieste. Beautiful and surprising, in a cozy setting, with great service and more than reasonable prices, Madreperla is definitely a strong recommendation!

A real find. The ambiance is special, cosy and truly well designed. Simple.and adeuate.. The menu is simple, with a little menu to match, and an impressive fasting dinner if you have time enough to spend. A fine choice of wines by the glass. Reasonable priced. The Food isexcellent. Haute cuisine, thoughtful and original, beautiful presented. Simply the best in Triest so far, the restaurant with its froendly people made our day.

We had such an excellent time - we did the tasting menu and the food and wine pairing were excellent. The wines had a wonderful cadence from light to flavorful to fruity and back down to light which matched the cuisine extremely well. Our server was also excellent and attentive. We loved how they merged asian flavors into more traditional italian cuisine. Very nice job!

This is a true jewl (literally a pearl). The food is amazing, The chef does wonders with simple yet high quality ingredients and really makes them shine. We especially liked “crudo di mare” and “calamari scottati con carciofi”. The latter has been one on the best calamari dishes we have ever tried. The personel is also super kind and the atmosphere relaxed. I highly recommend this place!

A place very close to our apartment. The service was exemplary , the staff were particularly attentive - knowledgeable and friendly. The food was fabulous; interesting menu with exciting, fresh combinations of food. Delicious and a lovely experience.
