9/10All the food was prepared beautifully and the maitre ‘d and waiter were most attentive. My only concern was that the main course could have been somewhat larger in quantity.

9.5/10The food quality and presentation was excellent. All our choices were positively memorable. Noteworthy was the best cannoli ever! This restaurant is under-stated: it look nothing special from the outside (mid-week) but deserves the highest ratings. The staff were lovely too!

5/10Very disappointing. Food was average. The waiting time was way too long. Only to receive a dish we had NOT ordered. The waiter was very polite and apologized repeatedly. There is no way I would give this place a second chance…

9.5/10Cute restaurant, rather small indoor area, but also possible to sit outside. The menu offered a fine selection of seafood options. We enjoyed a three course menu and were very happy. Service was super friendly and considerate.

8/10Food was excellent, creative, and delicious. Marco, the owner, was very friendly and funny. It was a rainy night and it was not crowded, but for some reason he said it was a busy day, to explain why we waited about 20 minutes or more between appetizer and main. For tourists looking to eat in Trastevere, this is no where near the center of the action. But for foodies it's worth seeking out.

10/10Great service, SO delicious food and a perfect glass of white wine???? We highly recommend this restaurant, and would be happy to visit again. We shared the salmon ‘antipasti’ as our starter and choose ‘catch of the day’ and ‘Sicilian Tuna Tagliata’ for main course.

9/10+1It was really good experience! The waiter was incredible! Not pushing you, giving the right suggestions. The food is nice, little smaller portions according the price and comparing other places. Only thing that was not ok was the tiramisu. Sorry guys, this is nether tiramisu nether pistaccio thing.

Thanks Silvia, we really appreciate your comment and evaluation; our tiramisu is deliberately a variant with Mediterranean flavors of the traditional tiramisu that you can find in many places in Rome and Italy.

9.5/10Really good food, decent portions, and reasonable wine prices. Service was attentive throughout. Off the main road in Trastevere, so it was quiet. If you want seafood, I’d recommend it.

10/10My second time at Mare Nostrum. Really wonderful food. The panella e baccala (light chickpea fritter & codfish) appetiser melted in my mouth - I would order it again. Kind staff, who also speak English if needed.

10/10Mare Nostrum is a really nice little seafood restaurant on a side street off Viale di Trastevere. The food was great, service friendly and helpful and it all made for a lovely meal. Just now they don't have printed menus, which has the benefit that the menu on the website is up to date. I had the pureed salt cod on a chickpea pancake as a starter, it was delicious and the combination of the smooth cod and crispy pancake worked well. My main course was the grilled octopus, crispy, tender and perfectly seasoned. Prices were very reasonable and our waiter was excellent. We'd gladly come back when we're in Rome again.

9/10The menu is clever and focused on bringing out fresh flavors from the sea. The crudités of seafood was a little small given the price, but very enjoyable, especially the oysters. For the first course, I had the spaghetti with clams and basil pistachio pesto. My husband had the fettuccine with shrimp and asparagus. Both plates were perfectly balanced and delicious. For our main course, we both had the grilled octopus. While I couldn’t taste the ginger mentioned in the menu, the grilled flavor of the octopus was wonderful. We also had grilled zucchini which was good. The ambience of this place is cute, and the staff are nice and efficient. I would definitely return.
