10/10The food was amazing we went with the recommendations. The shrimp tacos were delicious as was the shrimp lasagne but honestly it was all so good. The staff were really friendly and service was great. There was a nice buzzy atmosphere and we would definitely go back.

7.5/10My wife has always enjoyed the shrimp tacos here but the recipe seems to have changed and she found them vegan disappointing and not to her taste. The staff did apologise and offered an alternative but by then she had already earned most of it. My scallops were delicious and I enjoyed the seafood polenta although it could perhaps have done with some more seafood. Overall the meal was ok but not as good as previous visits.

10/10Visited this restaurant in 2024 and it was so memorable that I looked forward to returning especially for the prawn with crispy bread starter. Have been back and the food was excellent and worth the wait. Look forward to my next visit.

Food was amazing, the chef is not afraid to play with flavours. the shrimp and avocado tacos and the berlin balls are a must try! everything was really fresh and beautifully presented , staff were as attentive as they could be given restaurant was full of, will definitely return

10/10Everything was terrific. Tacos, burgers, Berlin balls, lasagna were all amazing. I wish we had time to stay for desert! The restaurant is beautiful, the service was unbelievably friendly and proactive and they were great with our kids. We cannot recommend Mare enough.

The place is beautiful, and the staff are absolutely lovely — no complaints there. As an appetizer, I had the famous pastel de nata de camarão. To be fair, it was tasty, and the presentation was really creative. My main course was tuna with shrimp — and unfortunately, both were severely overcooked. It’s honestly surprising, especially on the coast, where even small, casual places manage to treat seafood with more care. I even asked the staff (again — super nice) if both the starter and the main were cooked by the same chef. They said yes. Maybe it was a bad night, but I honestly don’t get the hype around this restaurant. Overall: nice concept, kind people, but the food was a letdown. I hope you will have a better experience there.

Delicious food with a twist, we had shrimp pastel de nata and octopus cataplana (do tell them if you don’t like coriander, there’s lots in it) and outstanding service from Sofia. Lovely vibe too!

10/10Oh wow!! What a stunning find this place was!!! We were a booking of 7 sat outside in a lovely ambiance, filled with scents of mint, and beautiful decoration! The experience from beginning to end was amazing 🤩 the flavours and presentation of the food was simply superb 👌🏼 Service was beyond good 👍🏻 If you are in this area this little place is a must! 10/10 guys!!! Fabulous

6/10The service was excellent – very attentive and friendly. The food was decent, though it didn’t quite live up to expectations. In my opinion, the price-to-quality ratio could be improved, as the experience didn’t fully justify the cost.

7.5/10The menu wasn’t the same as promoted on the fork, nor the prices. The waitresses were very proffesional but the manager only was interested in Portugese clients. We come here for several years and it was beter before!

10/10My friend and I have been coming here since it was open. The food has always been good but absolutely definitely no welcome, in fact we were really made to feel that we should be honoured to have a table, whether it be on the road side or in the restaurant. On this occasion as soon as we got there, Stephanie asked if it was the table that we had requested at booking, I felt totally at ease and was a lovely welcome and ambience all the way through. I was really impressed at the change that this made. Her little toddler brought lots of smiles as well, a very lovely team with both herself and the lady who waited on us. Yes, absolutely definitely a lovely evening and we will be back again in the middle of July, thank you.

6.5/10Most of what we ordered was delicious, but both of us really disliked the Berlin prawns, which is a shame because it was our last dish. We thought that they were a complete failure, with a sweet mango taste that dominated everything and a very unpleasant, stodgy casing. Really difficult to eat. I also asked for a second glass of wine, which did not arrive and finally we could not pay by card, because the machine did not accept either of my cards.

10/10This was the third time we had been to Mare over several years. It was as wonderful as our first visit. We enjoyed our meal and were keen to try other items being enjoyed around us. The staff was attentive while not overbearing. A very enjoyable experience.

9/10Inventive seafood - starters included shrimp tacos, savory 'pastel' and scallops. The Octopus stew main served in a cataplana dish was impressive. Good house wines and attentive service. Range of home made yummy deserts. Pricier than other local restaurants but effort in creation and presentation was clear. Would go again

The service was great. I have been a few times before and thought it was amazing. This time however, I thought was very disappointed. We got the Berlin balls and the shrimp tacos to start and I opened up the shrimp tacos to see if they forgot the shrimp. The Berlin balls also have shrunk massively, again with very little shrimp and far too much of the mango on top, leaving it far too sweet. For mains we had the lasagne which was too salty and the cannelloni was nice but slightly more bland than usual. I left feeling disappointed as I love this restaurant and always bring guests here as it is a fan favourite. Not sure what has changed. Also, left without a menu for 5 minutes upon arrival.

6/10The shrimp tacos don’t have shrimp!! A seafood flavoured cream cheese with crispy onions and a few rocket leaves in a shop bought taco shell for 11.80 was not up to it. My wife ordered shrimp and vegetable lasagne which was nice and creamy and did include some prawns.. 16 euros was fair but maybe a bit expensive. I ordered steak tenderloin, I asked for it medium rare, it came in three thin slices, you cannot cook steak to get caramelization when it’s only about 15 mm thick as it over cooks the meat. The result was over cooked thin pieces of steak in a shrimp seafood sauce. I don’t realize it was surf and turf as it said tenderloin with gratinated potatoes. The shrimps were nice but it was like thin over cooked meat in a seafood sauce, not very nice and a bit confusing. 25 euros for 150 grammes of meat. Under seasoned aswell as the potatoes. The potatoes were nice. It’s just the whole thing of overpriced tourist restaurants charging tourists 2-3 times more than Portuguese prices !!

6/10Booked on the fork website. Stated 30% discount on food not on a set menu. On paying our bill, they stated the tiger prawns that were not listed as any kind of deal were not available for the discount. Why? The staff on duty .were a couple of lovely young girls. Really not for them to deal with this Very disappointed.

I don’t know where to start This restaurant was awesome From the minute we walked in the door Staff everyone of them were wonderful The attention to detail with every course was incredible We truly were blown away with Mare Shrimp & Stuff and would highly recommend if in Olhao or nearby It’s a must

What an amazing evening in this resturant from the food to the staff and ambiance. The food was incredible, could not fault 1 thing. Really tasty good genuine Portuguese food with a smile 😃 thank you staff, chef and all involved in making this establishment an absolute gem 💎 😀
