i had the bife the maria do carmo, and it was servedin a very unimpressive small metal bow, a bit dry, without too much taste and the side was french fries, no sause. So a bit dissapoionting. MY girlfriend had a lobster and that was great, 4/6. But the bife was 2/6

Went on the lookout for a lunch experience at Largo do Carmo. As part of the prestigious Carmo Lisbon Hotel we find ourselves having a table at it's restaurant 'Maria do Carmo'. The simple, yet modern décor sits well with the traditional Lisbon Buildings and with the atmosphere the restaurant wants to provide leaving us with a cozy feeling inside. Ambience music was also a nice touch. Staff was professional and ready to help as they payed close attention to the dishes as they were finished and frequently asked if everything was ok. For starters I was going to order the fish soup. This request was promptly met with an unfortunate reply. They didn't have it ready as they were still opening the kitchen and so didn't have it ready to be served. Found this to be quite strange as the restaurant should have been open for at least an hour. I was quickly recommended the vegetable soup as a great option as well, which I agreed to have. The vegetable soup was creamy and flavorful. A nice start to the meal. The main course followed with Baked Codfish with a Crust of Traditional Cornbread and Flour Smoked Sausage. Exactly what it says. It was what is to be expected from traditional Portuguese cuisine. The cod was moist and seasoned well. Another well prepared dish. On the other hand there was nothing extraordinary about it. Most of the bones were taken out but still had to do some work around a few remaining ones. The salted vegetables were well done but could have had more flavor. I was then brought a Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream which was good but that's about as far as it went. 'Maria do Carmo' offers you exactly what it has on the menu and elevates the typical Portuguese dishes by highlighting some of their flavors. It has potential but didn't feel like there was a 'wow' factor that would distinguish this restaurant from similar ones making it a bit pricey. A good experience overall.

Extremely slow service. Waiting 1h30 for lunch is to much. The food was good but the overall experience was stained by the extreme delay in the service.

Excellent value for money, with a level of service and qualify of food far superior than other restaurants in the area with the same environment, space, location, etc.. Not for people looking for very expensive wine options. Nonetheless, it provides options for people looking for a not so expensive simple meal to the ones looking for 3-or-more-course meals. Highly recommended!

Nice enough food & good that I as able to have seafood whilst my vegan partner enjoyed the mushroom risotto. The welcome could have been a bit better. Although I told them my full name & that I had booked through The Fork, they seem to assume I was as looking for another restaurant with a similar name recommended by Trip Advisor. When I assured them I hadn’t & showed them the email confirmation, we were led to a.table. Perhaps they thought we were dressed too casually, anyway was okay after that. Though I’ll be charitable & say I think they need to update their wine list . We got the 2021 version of the Douro Valley wine listed as 2018.
