9.5/10Food was great & the staff was very welcoming as well!!! Will get back in the future for sure. It was my GF birthday so I made a request for a little surprise cake (in a short notice). They took care of it & offered it, which is a very nice gesture.

7/10Place is nice, ambience and service also, but food was disappointing. I had the lamb and no steak knife was provided and didn’t taste anything special, for the price.

9/10We had a great experience thanks to Sr Victor. He knows exactly how to deliver great customer service. Our meat was over cooked and he took care of it immediately. A big thank you to Sr Victor for giving us a great experience.

9/10Lovely meal for two from Al la cart menu, the fish Stew was beautiful with rice sauce and plenty of fish types in the main ingredients, Good friendly service, only gripe would be drinks prices.

10/10Dinner at the Matiz was outstanding! We were welcomed upon arriving and shown to a lovely table by the window. We followed our server’s suggestion and probably had the best fish we have had! It was sea bass baked in a black salt crust. Had he not suggested it, we would have missed out on a unique dish. The wine suggested was also excellent, All in all, it was a fine way to end our Portugal holiday. I cannot say enough about the outstanding service!

10/10Really nice setting both formal and informal. Nice bar if you fancy a pre drink in the lobby of yhe Hotel. Food was excellent value and really tasty fois gras grape was ridiculously gorgeous. 4 of us had 3 course's and only 1 dish was a little bland(cod). Overall excellent worth a Michelin recommendation at least.

3.5/10My steak was overcooked. The waiter was not did not seem happy to serve us- he was not pleasant at all. He didn’t ask us if we wanted any sides- I then asked him after we put our order in if it was too later to order a side. I told him I only wanted the side if it would be able to come with the meal. He said he would check. He never got back to me and the side came when I was taking my last bite of my meal. The waiter went out of his way to point out to us on our bill that the tip was not included.

8.5/10Overall, a wonderful dinner but possibly an off night when we went. The main waiter apologized for the rush of customers around 8pm that led to some unevenness in service to our table. Dishes we enjoyed included the fried sea bass and cataplana as main dishes and the tuna tartar and the ravioli in a bisque as appetizers. Unfortunately, the vegetarian bras was a miss - bland and it should be dropped from the menu or re-imagined. Dessert at our neighbor’s table looked wonderful (a chocolate dish, some small tartes, and large saucers of coffee) but we passed ourselves. Overall, I would recommend the restaurant.

10/10I literally proposed in this restaurant. I’m Portuguese. I deliberately chose this place, and it made everything smooth and easy. Service was just amazing, only topped by the food itself. Will be returning for sure more often than not.

9/10We had a great birthday dinner for my sister with impeccable service and remarkable cuisine but the lamb rack was a little too fatty. The elegant ambiance creates a warm setting, while the fresh and innovative dishes impress. Not cheap but it's worth it for a special occasion. They were also kind to offer us complimentary champagne for the dinner. Overall, a memorable dining destination. I highly recommend

7/10This is the restaurant for the Sofitel Hotel. Our waiter was charming despite the inattentive service. The sea bass was delicious, the steak was just ok and a bit overcooked.

7/10Pleasant atmosphere and service! Perfect wine pairing. Unfortunately, the food was far away from high-end. Too-salty tuna tartare was away from substantial pleasure from perfect cuts and excellent ingredients. Nicely done confit cod needs some unexpected addition to refresh the taste while eating. Finally, desserts, sadly, nothing special at all. Construction does not dance with each other, giving you extreme sweetness even if It’s a part of Portuguese culture.

6/10Walls of windows bring the beauty of Ave da Liberdade to you, and curated blown glass balances out the open shelves. A few too many staff members ensuring all was well. I ordered lamb as rare to medium rare (in Portuguese) but it was well done..Beautifully presented, however. At 8.30 pm, two tables with 2 kids at each really destroyed the ambiance...can no one keep these little ones quiet? Behaved?

10/10With my family I had booked a Hans Zimmer concert and. we looked for a nice dining location before. Just by chance via The Fork app I found this restaurant. in the vicinity. What an Experience!!!! We will come back!!!

10/10I got dinner in Matiz this week with some friends and it was wonderful! The staff (specially João and Edgar) were superb. We asked for their recommendations for wine and starters and they impressed us with all their choices. As a Portuguese person, I can tell the main courses were amazing and tasty like they should be. Looking forward to getting back.

10/10A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Restaurant and food. The location is elegant, stylish and with all this combination, there isn't nothing that can go wrong. All people was helpful, attentive, nice and really great in the treat with the customer. We had a date there and it was the perfect location to be chosen, making the adjective put at "the fork" for this restaurant : romantic a 100% match!

10/10Excellent food and service. Went there two days in a row. The only thing not as ideal was the menu only showed pre-tax price. So we’re a bit shocked by the final bill. If they made that clearer on the menu then our experience would have been perfect.
