3.5/10The food never rose to the level of delish across several orders of antipasti, primi, and second courses. There was just one fussy, bland or oversalted dish after another. Service was atrocious. We were literally forgotten about after the antipasti. A wine order for the primi course never arrived, water was not re-offered (it was extremely hot at the restaurant, btw) and when the main courses were ready, the owner literally threw the plates onto the table, sloshed more wine in my glass, and rushed away. Our table for three was booked for 7:30 - the first sitting of the night. Though other diners were starting to arrive, the place was by no means full, and that is no excuse for rudely disregarding us and our family experience. If you consider dining here, be sure to filter for one and two star reviews and you will see a more accurate perspective of this terrible restaurant.

We were here two years ago and were happy to repeat the experience. Menu is different but of course same quality and expertise. This time we met massimo (chef) and our delightful Mary (waiting). All in all fantastic

+1This is fabulous food. Genuinely wonderful cooking, regional produce, beautiful service. Every course was a treat. The ravioli is superb. The wine list is lovely and the owner has so much knowledge of the various wines that you can easily choose one to love. Great experience!

8/10Very friendly front of house/ owner, prompt service, accommodating for last minute baby guest, tasty fresh fish and slow cooked beef, assumed side dishes were included because not listed on the menu, possibly it’s the way Italy does it but just protein on a large empty plate. Looked and tasted great though.

9.5/10I have been to this restaurant several times over the past 18 months and I am always happy. The food is inventive, sophisticated and beautifully prepared - just delicious. I find the wine list interesting, very well curated and reasonable. The only negative is the dining space which is fine but a bit sterile, and the outdoor space can be impacted by car traffic. Overall though the service is good, the food wonderful and the owner very friendly. Go and enjoy this restaurant!

9.5/10Really enjoyable dining experience at Metae. Staff very welcoming. Service excellent. The food was exceptional. Really delicious and beautifully presented. The waiter was most helpful and accommodating and really took an interest in helping us make food choices that worked. Exceptional value for such high quality food. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

5/10We went as a couple expecting great things from the reviews. But overall the food was just OK. We cook a lot for friends and eat out, but we were both significantly underwhelmed by our experience. The guy who owns the place is lovely and engaged with us. Maybe we just hit on not a great night menu wise.

Tucked into a quiet Monopoli corner, this 7-table spot blends regional traditions with a nouveau twist. The open kitchen adds charm, but execution stumbles. The table beside me sent back the same dish twice and left unfed. The young waitress was earnest but inexperienced. Worst of all, the washroom door scrapes loudly across the floor with every visit, shattering the intimate mood. A place with heart and ambition, but still find its footing

10/10I had a stunningly great meal. It started with a beautiful Sea Bream (fish) carpaccio that was incredibly fresh. The service was gracious and attentive. The staff is fluent in English, French and Italian.

10/10Most amazing meal we’ve had in a very long time. Humble chef with a fantastic flavor profile-the squid ravioli was to die for!! Incredible wine selection and attentive service. We loved our appetizers (squid pasta and courgette), olive oil and bread, and mains (hangar steak and red fish) as well. We can’t wait to return!! Thank you Massimo for a special evening!

10/10Best meal we had in Monopoli (we're food snobs) and we stayed here for 2 weeks. It's not your traditional Puglian restaurant but an elevated version. So if you've had enough trattoria's and want something that will stay in your memory, go here! Massimo, the owner/chef is very talented, the food and service was impeccable.

6/10Very disappointed with our meal after reading great reviews of Metae. The antipasto was ok, and then the primi and secondi seafood dishes both had strong yet unpleasant flavors. The mint potatoes with the secondi was the one and only small part of the meal that I enjoyed, though my wife liked the melanzane amtipasto. We chose to have dessert elsewhere.

A wonderful time and delicious food! The service was impeccable and I had a chance to meet the chef who was friendly and I got to discuss one of his amazing fish dishes. I would definitely go back and highly recommend this restaurant!

5.5/10The setting was nice but the food took absolutely forever to arrive. After 45 minutes from ordering (without any food arriving) we asked the waitress and she said it would be coming now. When the maitre d asked us how things were (after we had eaten) I honestly told him the food took too long to arrive, and he reacted awkwardly and didn’t say anything or apologise, which was quite awkward. Unfortunately wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

7/10The food was very nice and so was the owner. The problem we had with the place was the pace of the food coming out of the kitchen. We had 4 dishes and the experience took about 2.5 hours. Way too long since the chairs were very uncomfortable. So… good food but very slow service
