10/10Best meal we had in Monopoli (we're food snobs) and we stayed here for 2 weeks. It's not your traditional Puglian restaurant but an elevated version. So if you've had enough trattoria's and want something that will stay in your memory, go here! Massimo, the owner/chef is very talented, the food and service was impeccable.

6/10Very disappointed with our meal after reading great reviews of Metae. The antipasto was ok, and then the primi and secondi seafood dishes both had strong yet unpleasant flavors. The mint potatoes with the secondi was the one and only small part of the meal that I enjoyed, though my wife liked the melanzane amtipasto. We chose to have dessert elsewhere.

10/10A wonderful time and delicious food! The service was impeccable and I had a chance to meet the chef who was friendly and I got to discuss one of his amazing fish dishes. I would definitely go back and highly recommend this restaurant!

5.5/10The setting was nice but the food took absolutely forever to arrive. After 45 minutes from ordering (without any food arriving) we asked the waitress and she said it would be coming now. When the maitre d asked us how things were (after we had eaten) I honestly told him the food took too long to arrive, and he reacted awkwardly and didn’t say anything or apologise, which was quite awkward. Unfortunately wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

7/10The food was very nice and so was the owner. The problem we had with the place was the pace of the food coming out of the kitchen. We had 4 dishes and the experience took about 2.5 hours. Way too long since the chairs were very uncomfortable. So… good food but very slow service

9.5/10We got a very warm welcome. The wine list was good. The food was completely delicious and cooked beautifully and was just so fresh. It also looked so pretty on the plate. We had mackerel and sea bass to start with and then tuna and cod all of which was fabulous. We couldn’t manage a pudding. I highly recommend this restaurant and we will go back one day soon.

10/10I had read the reviews. I am visiting from Australia so it is important that every experience be unique and memorable. I could tell this restaurant was polarising, but trusted my gut. This is a restaurant creating new and exciting food using brilliant local products masterfully created. Wonderful. If you’re looking for a traditional restaurant this is not the place for you. But, if you would like to experience a new twist on some old ways, book now. The service was amazing as well.

in the past, those who have judged our work in a negative way have given us food for thought ... not this time! Assuming that you showed up 45 minutes late at the booking time without calling and that once you are seated, you have read the menu and for heaven's sake we do not presume to please everyone, but the chance to try our idea of cooking it was granted to us when you ordered, what does not convince us is the absolute contradiction between your review and what happened in the room.. A) the dishes were appreciated in spite of that quality on which we should work ???????? B) if there was any problem why not communicate it instead of, at this point, lying to my colleagues in the room C) Our location is simple and fresh and obviously small..it is not a stable! What mortifies is not so much the judgment, I repeat..we cannot please everyone, but the sterile wickedness..the missed opportunity for comparison between us and your expectations. I greet you and thank you anyway as we did on Monday.. The chef

9.5/10This was a great find and their hospitality was fantastic. The local foods amazing also and apart from the restaurant being a little quiet, but that suited us, given it was early. We were a UK couple who didn't want to eat late, however we understand the Italian way of life, so we knew there wouldn't be many locals in the restaurant at 7.30pm, given they dine much later. It suited us and if you ever have a chance to try it out, make sure you do.

9.5/10Is there any greater joy in travel than to discover a humble, small, honest restaurant that puts out spellbinding dishes? Metae is every bit worth it and an experience if you get Enzo, our server, who was a joy. Finish your plates completely like we did and maybe you'll get complimented by Chef Massimo too ;)

10/10Well, it is nice to find a place where the service is attentive towards the customer. Me and my partner loved the polpo starter and the homemade pasta. Wine was of good quality from local producers. We will definitely be back and I really hope that they will carry on with these standards. Truly recommended.
