6/10We have been to this restaurant a few times, all very good, but our most recent there was disappointing. The lady who took our order didn’t bring an onion bhaji, for starters, that my husband requested, so my husband and I had to share one starter. My husband asked for a mild special biryani and received a spicy one. I had a delicious main there before, but I couldn’t remember the name of the dish, and wanted to reorder. I explained to the girl that this was a tomato based dish with spinach and pointed to one on the menu that I thought it might be. She confirmed a dish on the menu was what I was looking for, but when it arrived it was completely different to what I asked for. The dish presented was a brown sweet sauce, nothing like the one I had described. I find the men are more aware of the menu, and are much more attentive., always helpful and offering suggestions. The lady who took our order didn’t listen to what we were asking for, and had no interest in what she was doing.

8.5/10The food here is spot on to our taste. Our experience in Portugal generally is that their Indian food is under spiced compared with U.K. However, here it is top dollar and certainly, by far, the best I’ve come across in the local area. Why it’s not much busier is beyond me but to our advantage. Very pleasant, multi lingual staff and a joy to visit.

I’ve been here with a friend, I love Indian food and I saw a lot of good reviews for this restaurant, so we chose this one. The best thing we could ever done! The food is amazing, as the staff: I didn’t know the names of the dishes but I knew that I wanted something with coconut, so I asked to advice me some dishes with that and explain what’s inside. Everything went exactly as I expected, the chicken Korma that he advised was delicious! And they have a lot of vegetarian choices. This restaurant is very local and typical Indian, absolutely the perfect choice if you want to taste real Indian flavors! Small advice: in the menu there are only the names of the dishes, not what’s inside; maybe a good improvement can be writing the ingredients under the plates! For example, if they have fruits, nuts, which kind of veggies, coconut, yogurt, cream, etc… anyway, if you are in doubt just ask, and they will explain or advice!

10/10Booked in New Year's Eve. Fantastic meal. Food was flavoursome and so tasty. Staff were excellent - helpful, friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend. We will visit again later in the week during our stay in Alvor.

8.5/10On arrival there was no recognition that we were expected, despite showing The Fork reservation confirmation. Service from the husband and wife team was friendly and efficient. The interior of the restaurant was functional but less attractive than anticipated. Starters of vegetable samosas were unexceptional but acceptable. For mains we selected a couple of the house specialities - Kashmiri Korma and chicken Lababdar. Both were an interesting change and very palatable. Probably the best Indian eating experience we’ve had in Alvor over the years, but nothing special.

9.5/10I have been to many Indian restaurants in Lisbon only to be disappointed by the level of taste. This place is what Indian food should be like. The restaurants in Lisbon would learn a lot from this place nice food and brilliant staff.

The meal we had was very good over all. We started with poppadom's and a generous chutney tray. Then on to mains, a tasty lamb Hyderabadi and a Tandoori King Prawn dish. I'd say prices are above average for food and drink but it was a nice meal. Service was generally good, the only negative being our drinks were taken away when still half full, we didn't realise until it was too late .

9/10Fabulous food in a lovely family run restaurant (the owner’s 3 year old wanted to help set the table). Service is quietly efficient without being OTT, there no TV or loud music to distract from what is a very very nice dining experience. The pickle tray was delish, as was the non-veg platter to start, and our mains of lamb lababdar and lamb methi malai were full of flavour. All this with two beers, a coke and a bottle of house wine was great value at just over €70! Just go! ????

10/10I had the pleasure of dining at Mumbai Darbar Indian Restaurant with my husband and our three daughters, and it truly was a delightful experience for our entire family. From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed and made to feel right at home. The highlight of our evening was undoubtedly the homemade food. Each dish we ordered was prepared with utmost care and attention to detail, resulting in flavors that were simply outstanding. Our daughters especially loved the fragrant biryani and the creamy butter chicken, while my husband and I couldn't get enough of the green wine and samosas It was clear that the chefs at Mumbai Darbar take pride in their culinary creations. We were equally impressed with the impeccable service we received throughout our meal. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs and even engaged in friendly conversation with our daughters, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere. From answering questions about the menu to catering to our specific dietary preferences, they left no stone unturned in ensuring our dining experience was nothing short of excellent. The ambiance of the restaurant added to our overall enjoyment. The tasteful décor and soft lighting created a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it the perfect setting for a family meal. We felt comfortable and relaxed throughout our time at Mumbai Darbar. Furthermore, the pricing at Mumbai Darbar was quite reasonable, considering the exceptional quality of the food and service. We felt that we received excellent value for our money, and we left the restaurant completely satisfied and eager to return. In conclusion, our visit to Mumbai Darbar Indian Restaurant was a wonderful experience that we will cherish for a long time. The homemade food, excellent service, and family-friendly atmosphere exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience, whether as a couple or with the whole family. Mumbai Darbar is truly a gem in the culinary scene.
