We dined at Mexilhão twice during our trip to Portugal — and honestly, the only reason it wasn’t more is because we discovered it just three days before flying back to the UK. Without a doubt, this was the best dining experience I’ve ever had. The food, the atmosphere, the service — every part of it was exceptional. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate my partner’s needs on both visits, and did so with genuine enthusiasm. You could tell they truly cared about delivering a great experience. If you're even thinking about eating here, stop thinking and just go. It’s more than a meal. We’ll definitely be back next year. Thank you to all the staff at Mexilhao.

Pork overcooked.Steak undercooked. Food overall very poor for price. Worst meal of holiday so far and causes me upset to say it but cost cannot be ignored for such awful food.Very expensive. Very disappointed as menu looks great but quality of cooking lets whole restaurant down. Could not recommend

This is a really very good restaurant. The service is excellent, food really spectacular. Everything was delicious and very well presented. When in Algarve, one simply must try this restaurant. You will not regret it. And the price is right also.

We visit this restaurant on numerous occasions and always enjoy the food & wine. However may I suggest to avoid over cooking of the prawn that the chicken is cooked on a separate skewer. Two skewers used in the grilling process. The chicken was moist and full of flavour as was the prawn even though it was slightly overcooked. The staff are very welcoming and also very friendly & attentive. We enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning. Their sauces and pate are all homemade with the very best of organic ingredients. Norberto is a gracious host and is always very welcoming & obliging.

We had couvert, Piri-Piri and dessert and the food was excellent, also the service and atmosphere are excellent. The atmosphere is much more better then on the pictures! Also it was lovely warm inside! I will definitly recommend this restaurant!!

The grilled tiger prawn was simply delicious. The main courses were tasty and beautifully presented. Homemade ice cream to finish and a beautiful bottle of red wine. Norbert is a gracious host and nothing is too much trouble. We will look forward to our next visit.

very nice homemade portuguese food, adfordable and generous portions. we tried all around the menu card. Five persons at different ages had 3 dishes, something for every one with good guidence for kids and adults. There was a good relaxed spirit and the hosts did their best to make us feel comfortable. We were made to feel very welcome at this super new restaurant. The owner has a real eye for detail with everything. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The food was superb - and hot plates too!!! What a find!!!

Wonderful meal, served by Adrianna, who was so attentive and passionate about the food we thought she was an owner. Their specialty is fish, so we ordered Golden Bream & Sea Bass. They grilled them whole, and Adrianna fileted each of them at our table. There was also a beautiful plate of mixed vegetables: zucchini, broccoli, green beans, turnips, and carrots, plus an entire plate of delicious potatoes with caramelized onions. A wonderful meal. Add a bottle of house wine, bread/olives/tuna salad on the table, and the total cost for 2 of us would have been 80 euros but The Fork had a 30% discount so it was 55 euros plus 10 for the delightful Adrianna. Definitely recommend.
