10/10We chose OB because it specializes in truffles. It was a memorable and unforgettable evening with a sensational entree of pasta and white truffles. The starters, desserts, service and ambience were equally good, but the all star was the white truffles! It's a delightfully small, modest and relaxing setting. Being first timers to Osteria Barbarini, we know we will return!

10/10We had a lovely time at Osteria Barberini. Everything was great (food, wine, environment) and the staff very attentive and friendly. Would easily go back there tomorrow….

Nine years had passed since our last visit to Osteria Barbarini. I had recommended it to a number of friends who would be visiting Rome. We recalled it as one of the best dining experiences in Rome. The current version has slipped a bit - it is still a good restaurant featuring a good value truffle menu - but it is not quite what it was. That said, the staff was exellent, the truffle menu very enjoyable, and the remodeled space pleasant. They have a nice wine list, however, my first four choices were not in stock. I finally asked the waiter to recommend something, which was very nice. We will likely return on a future visit to Rome.

The food was just ok, although truffle is served, it did not have a full impact on the taste of the meal. The servers were not attentive, lacks that certain concern for the customers. We asked to be moved to another table because it is too close to the door and it was a very cold night when we had the dinner. The portions of food are not filling as well as not appealing to look at. Overall, our experience is subpar to what we’ve expected to have a great experience with excellent tasting, appropriate portions of food. I will not recommend and even come back to this restaurant again.

4/10I was at the Osteria few years ago, and it was perfect and full of people. I don’t know what happened, but today was terrible. No meat in lobster, the tagliolini not aldente, service poor. The restaurant empty of people. I will never come back

2/10A complete tourist trap. It is a famous truffle restaurant, but their truffle had no aroma or taste at all. I honestly didn’t feel like I was eating real truffles. We ordered the sea bass carpaccio, lasagna, and risotto, all with black truffle, but every dish was bland and flavorless. We were seated in the basement with flies buzzing around, and the restroom was wet, smelly, and dirty. Overall, a very disappointing experience. Definitely not recommended.

3/10We were initially impressed by how friendly and welcoming this Italian restaurant seemed, but our experience soon turned disappointing. When we sat down, we noticed that every printed price on our menus had been covered with handwritten labels showing higher amounts. A “specials” page listed white truffle pasta at £70 — we could see the original £40 price faintly beneath. We decided to order from the regular menu, yet even those prices were inflated. While waiting, we noticed locals nearby had menus with the original printed prices, much lower than ours. When the staff realised we’d compared menus, they awkwardly adjusted our bill to the local prices. Though we appreciated that, it left a bad taste. It’s upsetting to feel singled out and overcharged simply for being tourists. A warning to other travellers: always check menus carefully, as some places sadly take advantage of visitors’ trust.

8/10I honestly expected a bit more from this restaurant. The food felt pretty average, and the atmosphere wasn’t very cozy. It also seemed like most of the guests were tourists, which made it feel less authentic. However, the staff was wonderful and really put in a lot of effort

8.5/10It was a beautiful day. We ate outside with a lovely view of the Barberini Fountain. The food was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked, but a little bland. I had the grilled chicken and my husband had the Saltinbauca. The Tiramasu was divine. Service was a little on the slow side, but good.

9.5/10Perfect food and wine plus a secluded side street position . The truffle risotto and carbonara were lovely. The wine list was a little depleted but we still found a good ripasso. We would recommend it and would definitely go again

+3Excellent Dining Experience! I recently had the pleasure of dining here ! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was incredibly cozy and inviting. It made for a truly comfortable and relaxing meal. But the real highlight was the food—it was absolutely delicious! Everything we ordered was expertly prepared and tasted fantastic. Our server, Gina, was an absolute professional. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and made our entire dining experience smooth and enjoyable. A huge thank you to Gina for her outstanding service! I advise everyone to visit this restaurant from the bottom of my heart. It's a gem!

8.5/10We were lucky to have white truffle arrived the restaurant that day., We had it on risotto, it was much better than the black one.. The black truffle dishes are not very impressive, a bit light (smell/taste not strong enough). The beef tartar, with black truffle, is not bad. We had house red, not bad.

3/10We decided to try the restaurant due to good reviews and made reservation through Fork. When we arrived we’re told no Fork reservations allowed, so our booking not on their list. As we’re early they could arrange an outdoor table for us. They’re short of staff that evening. No one came to take our order. We’d to walk to the counter and asked. They also mixed up other people’s orders! Many people arrived and long lineups in the rain. Regarding the food, they promoted to have best truffle dishes, but we found mediocre. Not a good experience!

2/10Bad services that ruined a meal, this is how I describe this restaurant we visited in Rome. We came in before the peak starts, had to call the staff for meal order a few times, literally a few times until I have to raise my voice and tell them I HAD CALLED YOU MANY TIMES! I had witnessed another Asian couple struggling to call them for bill as well while the staff is busy talking to a non-Asian couple 🙂 Feedback the services experience to the staff when making the payment, she insisted it was short of staff and ignored the fact we told her that we experience the whole thing during non-peak and her staff was “busy” talking. 🙂 Short of staffs is NOT what your client should be responsible for!

the restaurant attracts many asian tourists. I suppose we all read from other reviews to go. You must make a reservation in order to get a table. The portion is very large for one person. I order the Forcaccia with Black Truffle which is good but the portion is a 8” pizza. The fettuccine con tartufo is also great. Given the size I couldn’t finish both.

I made the reservation on Fork but the waiter didnt see my name on the list which wasnt a problem because the restaurant wasnt crowded yet and I was by myself. Food was honestly not impressive at all. I got the truffle focaccia and the truffle pasta - focaccia was nothing special, and the pasta was horrible. Sauce was bland, pasta was overcooked and the black truffle was honestly one of the least flavorful and fragrant truffle i have ever had. I really don’t know where the good reviews are coming from lol The waiter spoke to me probably 5 times during the night, first was to take my order, 2 times each time he gave me my dishes with little enthusiasm, and last when I asked for the check. Overall I just dont think he was attentive nor hospitable. I guess one good thing that I had a different experience compared to other reviews that I read was that I wasnt forced to pay tip in cash. Anyways, I would not come back at all.

4/10Overall, the experience was disappointing. The food was rather ordinary, with nothing remarkable to highlight. What made it worse was the poor service – we were left waiting and largely unattended, which made us feel unwelcome. In the end, we left only a €1 tip as a reflection of our dissatisfaction. We will not be returning.

8.5/10The food is amazing! No complaints on food. When it came time to pay, our server asked cash or card. We said card. Then as we were paying he asked how we were tipping him. We were going to tip card but he wanted cash because he said he loses 25% if we pay card. So we asked him to make change from our 20 euro for him. And he said what of this is mine? So we responded with 10 which was very generous. He struggled to make change and kept asking what we were tipping him and was hovering over us with the money. I’m a bartender in Connecticut and my tips get taxed 50%. I’ve never had a server be so demanding and continue to ask what money we were giving him and then he struggled to make change for us. It was pretty unfortunate to have that kind of ending to our perfect meal. Will not return because felt like such a money demand as a guest.
