The restaurant was extremely busy so we had to wait to get our table. This is the third time I eat in this place and the staff normally tired or stress. I think management should add extra stuff, as they are always extremely busy. Our meal was delicious, though.

We had an unforgettable date night at Osteria del Bastian Contrario during our vacation in Lucca! The atmosphere was warm and romantic, with that perfect mix of cozy charm and local character. Every dish was beautifully prepared — the wild boar pasta was rich and flavorful, and the tiramisu con savoiardi was the best we’ve ever tasted. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel like old friends. A true hidden gem within the Lucca walls — we’ll be dreaming about this meal for a long time! 🍷🍝✨

10/10Wonderful! The food was wonderful and the service was fantastic! The staff was kind and patient (we had people with us who were on their first trip to Italy and took some time with the menu). We had soups, pasta, desserts…. All of it was very good. The ambiance was good as well. We will gladly return many times!

6/10Food was only just warm when delivered. Indoor seating was in three small separate rooms plus larger outdoor area. Outdoor area prob got better service and had a better vibe. Plus or negative you decide - Negroni cocktail was so strong!

Mi dispiace non abbiate apprezzato ..il Nero di seppia e risotto seppie e Bietola .due classici della nostra cucina locale viareggina ..credetemi problema di gusto vostro... 2piatti molto apprezzati dai clienti lucchesi e toscani ...siamo un osteria e cerchiamo di proporre piatti tradizionali .da osteria.......

I assume they have to hire mire staff as the requests from the clients are many and the staff are outnumbered. I have to admit that even if they are few, all of the waiters are very polite and friendly. To be tipped surely as they deserve it. The first course was good really, but I was disappointed with the second course so I had to send it back and have another forst course! Lol.

7/10We took advantage of the discount to splurge on truffle dishes, and they were just OK. (maybe because they were out of season (September) or from last year...?) The local typical "tonno" antipasto (which is actually pork that looks like tuna) was really good, though, and I appreciated the amount of salad and veggies it came with, which can be hard to come by. No English menu, but it's so extensive, you can basically have any combination of pasta and sauce and any typical main dish that you want.

10/10Staff were helpful and efficient. A large choice of menu including many traditional dishes. We had a ravioli with beef and porchini sauce and a tagliatelle amatriciana both being absolutely delicious. This was followed by a chicken florentine which was brilliant - a half chicken in a delicious kale and bean sauce. New potatoes completed the meal. I would highly recommend this eating establishment.

10/10Fantastic place in the amazing old part of Lucca. Food really tasty and good, staff very nice, welcoming and friendly. I strongly recommend it if you want to taste Tuscany speciality based on a wide range of slow cooked meats, good wines etc etc

The food at Osteria del Bastian was okay, they put a bit to much truffle, but over all it was good and tasty. But the surroundings and the staff was absolutely not okay.

10/10Tons of good quality food and nice atmosphere. Only a few vegetarian options: I tried the tartufo tagliatelle and they were simply amazing. There is a cheese platter as well. Worth the price.

Very large menu with lots of different options from the region. Price seemed a bit high for the quality but luckily we had a discount through The Fork. Overall good food but not the best in Lucca. Cocktails were 7€ and very large so great value for money!

8.5/10Picturesque restaurant in the heart of beautiful Lucca. We were a group of six and they placed us in a room detached from the main body, so it felt quite calm and private. Yet we were not forgotten, the service was prompt, efficient and friendly. They have a very extensive menu. We recommend.mend that you still k to the traditional local dishes. Overall, a pleasant experience.

8.5/10Great place in the heart of Lucca. We really enjoyed the location, despite the very warm weather the restaurant was very well equipped and we had a great stay outdoor! Food was good and the price was average. Service was rather fast and staff was very nice. Reccomended!
