Beautiful tiny restaurant with a charming owner, the oldest osteria in Modena serves the tastiest dishes, all fresh and home made. We had parmiggiana to start with, followed by hand made tortellini in brodo and I had to re-order the roasted rabbit - it was too good (and my kids ate almost of my first order) :) The desert was sublime and the sicilian owner, who has been taking care of the place for over 33 years - a delight! We’ll be back for sure!

Was here an a food vacation touring Italy with my 85 year old Italian mom. Got into town today and realized most restaurants are closed Monday night. Did some research on the Fork and found this place. In a word: Fantastico! We split a plate of prosciutto which was very good. I had the hand made tortellini in brodo which was spectacular and my Mom had the hand made gnocchi with Gorgonzola which we both agreed was the best we had ever had. Light, airy and amazingly flavorful gnocchi. We then had the roasted rabbit and potatoes and again, was great!! Could not have been happier with the amazing food at this quiet Osteria. Also a very nice wine list. No comment on dessert as we were too full. Basta! You need to go here to eat!!

Great atmosphere, excellent food to fair prices. Modena is full of wonderful restaurants, but Osteria Ruggera has a special place in my heart. I will definately come again.

€15 for tagliata di manzo and it was poor quality meat. I asked for Lambrusco Amabile and I was told that “in Modena we only drink secco”...I not sure if that is true but “unfortunately no sir” would have been more pleasant.

Excellent meal, as other reviewers have stated a bit pricey, but you get quality and worth every euro. Awesome meal, appetizer and wine also were excellent. Would definitely return without hesitation. Well done!
