While the staff were all very kind, the food completely missed the mark. I am someone who often gets mocked for just how much salt I put on my food. It is *rare* I eat something that is too salty that it borders on inedible. However, the gnocchi I was served tasted like sea water. The dessert was slightly above average and bread serviceable.

I visited the restaurant because if the michelin recomendation they used to have back in 2017. I had filled mussels as antipasti, it was tasty but the flavor of bread dominated the flavor of the mussels. Unfortenatly the raviolo I had where undercooked and the dough was kind of hard to chew - I think that must not happen in such a restaurant. I think its positive that they gave us a five Euro discount but so far I would not recommend the restaurant.

We opted to sit inside and were brought to the lower level cave. We were just friends but could see how romantic a spot this could be. Service was exceptional, fancy but friendly. Beet colored gnocchi! Raw Tuna starter! Duck with lovely fresh veggies-everything very unique.

They listen. To the guests. To what the food needs. And to the eviroment and there godly wines!!! It was an amazing night of The finest recipies, the finest touches of atention and love for people, food and wine. We were blowing away by The whole experience. And The Bill was very modest For The threath we got. Thank you Michele For this adventure. Grace mile per tutt. Race mille Lucca per questa notte!!! Last dinner in lucca deserved a special occasion and peperosa did not disappoint. We were seated at a beautiful table by the front windows and the service was impeccable from seating to leaving. Overall, the food was delicious. Amuse bouche was provided to settle us into the full experience. Ravioli was tasty and al dente, although not as hot as we expected. Filet mignon with foie gras, black truffle, and red peppercorns was heavenly. While we were too satiated to order dessert, a final complimentary spoonful of chocolate and bit sized cookies were the perfect ending to a truly enjoyable meal.

Without reading reviews, I would have been really suspicious. A restaurant on the main Piazza in Lucca, waiters with bow ties, relatively high prices. This smells like a tourist trap. Well, it wasn’t. We got the best food we had on our trip and an incredibly good value. The experience starts with a well poured glass of free Prosecco, actually a nice one, and a small amuse geule The dishes that followed represented upscale Italian cuisine, a welcome change from the home cooking style trattorias that dominate the dining landscape. Food that not only tasted great, but also looked great. After our meal, with our coffee we got a spoon of soft chocolate and some small cookies. The service was excellent. Prices are very reasonable, especially considering all the free goodies you receive. So all in all highly recommended! All in all The service was excellent.

Lunch was equisite. We all opted for the chef’s composed menu of the day of 2-courses and were all delighted by his selection. Lunch was accompanied by a full-bodied, yet fruity white wine from Elba.

I have been to many Michelin rated restaurants and, to be frank, this was the most disappointing. The fish in the crudo tasted very old and, honestly, flavorless. The amberjack was over cooked to the point of actually being difficult to cut with a knife. Think about that. Fish that is difficult to cut. My wife’s lamb ravioli was good but rather salty. The location is fantastic however. And the service was very nice. But the food was a major letdown. So much so that we went and got pizza right afterward and that was far superior.

The dishes were delicious and creative. I'm often disappointed with the quality to price ratio with upscale Italian restaurants, but the food was excellent and well presented. I tried some flavor combinations that were new to me, and I was pleasantly surprised, especially with the Agnolotti alla zucca, which had a sweet licorice-infused butter sauce matched with very strong Parmigiano Reggiano (60 month). I was skeptical because I'm often not a fan of anise-based flavors, but this worked extremely well.

Amazing setting in a piazza that was once a Roman amphitheatre. It is a small menu of well cooked dishes, and a fabulous wine list. If you are fed up with tourist trap trattorias and want something better this is a great choice.

Previous reviews of Peperosa indicated that it would be very good but it was really excellent. Every course was better than the last, the raw seafood platter was delicious, just the right amount of each type and amazingly fresh. The pasta dishes were fabulous, a subtle mix of flavors. And there were frequent additions to the meal with little tidbits from the chef. Every course was explained by our server and we really enjoyed that. I highly recommend having a meal here.

Lovely new venue and ambitious crew. Other reviews were mixed, but it seems they are getting their feet under them. Service was professional, dishes were delicious, well priced and beautifully presented. I am rooting for them! We will be back!

We had a fantastic lunch at Peperosa Ristorante Bistro during a day trip to Lucca. Our starter was pecorino cheese served with honey - a revelation! For main, I had the Tordelli Lucchesi al ragù (Lucca style ravioli) which was delicious and the perfect size. My sister had the Tagliolino fresco con vongole (clam tagliolini) and said it was the best clam pasta she has ever eaten - fresh and salty. We accompanied our meal with an Aperol Spritz each and enjoyed every minute of it.

I had booked the reservation for a Thursday and we came on a Tuesday instead. We were still accomodated and had a wonderful meal. Everyone loved their dishes and the service was very nice. It was a great way to end a lovely day in Lucca.
