10/10The meal was an excellent experience. The service was friendly and timely. The food was beautifully presented and portions were reasonable - not too big and not too small. We, a couple, had two antipasti, one primo and one secondo and each dish was great.

How much you will enjoy eating here depends mainly on where you are seated. The ground floor is light and airy with windows overlooking the Piazza. Then there’s the basement, dark, dingy and noisy thanks to the low ceiling which opens directly onto where they store wine. We were initially shown to a table down there and thanks to a very noisy child made it clear this would not do. Fortunately, they were able to provide us with a table upstairs otherwise we would have walked. We were well dressed and insulted to have been put there. The food was mostly reasonable. My beef fillet, ordered as medium, was severely under-cooked in part. The starter, tagliatelle with white truffle, was good and the dessert at least inexpensive. My first choice of wine was “finished”, the second was available. The total bill came to €140 and we came away feeling rather ho-hum about the experience. I’m afraid Lucca generally has become a victim of its own success which is a pity.

10/10The best restaurant in Piazza dell'Anfiteatro. It has a great non-touristy menu with well prepared dishes. The staff are well trained, attentive, and friendly. Had both lunch and dinner there and enjoyed both very much. Highly recommend. Btw - the Maremma Cheese plate is amazing.

A truly delightful restaurant right in the heart of the historic Piazza dell’Anfiteatro. The service is top-notch – attentive, and caring – making you feel welcomed from the very first moment. The food is simply impeccable. Excellent wine selection, perfectly paired with the dishes. The highlight for us was the crudo platter: fresh gambas, oysters, and raw fish of outstanding quality – as good as you would expect by the sea. This is the kind of place that turns dinner into a joyful Italian experience, authentic and memorable. If we return to Lucca, this will be one of our very first stops. Highly recommended.

How often does one roll into a walled historical town, spend a great day exploring, and then just happen to secure a spot at a Michelin recommended restaurant? What is dubbed the amphitheater area in Lucca, now replaced by an oval of shops and restaurants, is home to Peperosa. The weather was near perfect, with rain and storms passing the city by, but close enough to keep temps down and it allowed for the platoon of restaurants to be fully open for outdoor dining. So, white table linens, waitstaff in vests and ties (t-shirts for staff at adjoining joints), and what truly was fine dining. They had a fairly extensive wine list — not Clancy novel-sized — but a good variety including local vintners. Staff was well trained and functioned cohesively. I asked for time between courses, and there was no pressure at all. Adult diners were greeted with a glass of Prosecco, and first up was an amuse bouche, followed by appetizers, we skipped the Primi and went straight to mains — steak and fish.

4.5/10There are far better restaurants in Lucca who really try to please you and are inventive. Peppers was a real disappointment. Dispassionate wait staff .. who couldn’t tell you much about the menu. Food was just ok nothing special, overcooked mussels, tough octopus and dishes lacking flavour. Not worthy of any accolade particular not Michelin recognition.

6/10To start we had tuna was great, but the pig cheeks were tough and chewy, and did not appear to have been freshly cooked. The nocci was average. Most disappointing was and the fish stew. It and lacking in flavour and seasoning and the depth of taste one expects from a fish stew. We did try to give feedback to the owner but sadly there was a language difference and she did not seem interested enough to get someone to help us. I do not give poor reviews as a matter of principle but felt that my feedback was not really of interest. This was my wedding anniversary present to my husband and we left very unimpressed.

7/10Very disappointing food for a Michelin restaurant- service and ambience were great. My main course was hardly edible. I ordered the fish stew. One of the two pieces of fish was extremely fishy tasting and the octopus was tough and chewy- really bad. The appetizer, wine and dessert were very good.

10/10Very good food and very nice service. The decoration of the restaurant is also very nice with a peaceful atmosphere. This restaurant is very well located in one of the most beautiful place in Lucca. I highly recommend comparing to the other restaurants around.

7/10Disappointing meal, definitely not Michelin star level. The menu is creative but the execution disappointing: soggy pastry, not quite hot enough, bland flavours and seasoning. And despite what was advertised on the Fork, there was no sign of a daily menu at 25€ (although I was surprised by a Michelin restaurant offering that). Is their star still valid? The sign at the door said Michelin 2021

All excellent, ftom greeting to food preparation, excellent service, and friendly ambiance. Everything just right. Highly recommend this fine restaurant. While the staff were all very kind, the food completely missed the mark. I am someone who often gets mocked for just how much salt I put on my food. It is *rare* I eat something that is too salty that it borders on inedible. However, the gnocchi I was served tasted like sea water. The dessert was slightly above average and bread serviceable.

6/10I visited the restaurant because if the michelin recomendation they used to have back in 2017. I had filled mussels as antipasti, it was tasty but the flavor of bread dominated the flavor of the mussels. Unfortenatly the raviolo I had where undercooked and the dough was kind of hard to chew - I think that must not happen in such a restaurant. I think its positive that they gave us a five Euro discount but so far I would not recommend the restaurant.

10/10We opted to sit inside and were brought to the lower level cave. We were just friends but could see how romantic a spot this could be. Service was exceptional, fancy but friendly. Beet colored gnocchi! Raw Tuna starter! Duck with lovely fresh veggies-everything very unique.

It was an amazing night of The finest recipies, the finest touches of atention and love for people, food and wine. We were blowing away by The whole experience.
