Food was good. Service staff were all clearly in training, but it was as if the restaurant was trying to hide this. It was also completely silent. There was only one other couple, no background noise, no music, so it felt like we were hearing everything the other table said. It could be the foundation of good dining but overall, it was simply a very awkward experience.

The ambiance was that of a true Portuguese restaurant. The food was authentic and portions were good sizes

The views available to diners (& guests staying at the castle) are worth the meal alone. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the service was attentive and informative. Although we didn’t try it (not brave enough) they had a menu with dishes containing edible insects. First time I’ve seen this in Europe.

The Christmas Menu was excellent

We returned two dishes back to the kitchen: The first was the chicken which wasn’t cooked properly, it was too hard. The second was the roaster fish which was flavorless, if there was sauce there it was without taste. Even though the restaurant was quite empty the waitresses were not present at the moment.

What a wonderful lunche we had in the castle!! The setting was beautiful; the service was amazing and the food was absolutely delicious! We will remember this experience forever. Thank you!!!

Not recommended at all. It’s ok only because you’re in a castle, but the experience overall is absolutely not worth it. The food is not great, the ambience itself has a very strong smell, and I think we had 5 mosquitoes near the table. Pretentious service but not real knowledge of the food / service. Really disappointed with this.

The restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere and very capable waiters. It’s only the chef who needs to go to school again! Tastes are bad; there is no balance in his sours.. As a starter I had scallops….much to sour Afterwards chicken na púcara which tasted disgusting; everything tasted the same (meaning choriço) vegetables cooked much too far ….nearly purée My husband had ravioli with mushrooms…also no balance or good tastes What a shame on such a magnificent location

Lovely setting serving ordinary food. The serving staff made great efforts, but it is impossible to compensate for mediocre food.

Setting beautiful but lacking in atmosphere. The two staff members were lovely but incredibly slow... we waited at least 45 minutes just for the bill. Food OK but not outstanding and certainly not justifying the price. Disappointed.

Very nice experience at the Pousada. The dishes were delicious, beautifully prepared and the host and hostess were very nice. Excellent and highly recommended!

My wife and I are staying in the castle and had a great dinner. The service was wondeful. My cod was excellent as was my wife's chicken. We also had the local red wine that is made for the castle and it was fantastic.

This restaurant has outstanding food, amazing views, and some of the nicest, most attentive, and most helpful wait staff you will ever experience. I highly recommend!

Extremely disappointing. I had the Chicken cooked in clay pot and my husband had the sea bass. My chicken was sparse, over-cooked and dry -- the sea bass was less than 2 oz and several bones were still in it. There were only 6 people in the entire restaurant, and the wait staff are terrific and the ambiance and view can't be beat. Overall, until the food quality improves, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Delicious food, in a castle! I dined solo, and was given a fantastic table with excellent, attentive service. A beautiful meal.

It’s just perfect! The castle vibes, the restaurant with the city view, the food and the staff. The “Bacalhau Dom Diniz” was the best bacalhau that I ate in Portugal.
