Great food and service

Tasty food!

The staff were very good, and knowledgeable about both food and wine. The food was lovely and reasonably priced considering quality. Although the actual venue inside is great, particularly being along side the working pottery, unfortunately the location of the venue is slightly less desirable, however if you can look past the approach and area, it is well worth it. Thank all

Really nice evening, at some points we felt a bit rushed but overall a great experience

Very hard to find. They realy should have a sign to help guests to find. Unfortunately Main course came cold.

We had an amazing anniversary dinner here. My husband is vegan and they went out of their way to make his meal lovely! Service was excellent.

From the very first bite of smoked butter with sourdough bread, the experience was memorable. The two waitstaff were knowledgeable, attentive and genuinely excellent. We began with the bluefin tuna and wild prawn -both outstanding -then moved on to the duck and the squid, which were not only delicious but beautifully plated. Every dish impressed. I would absolutely recommend this hidden gem of a restaurant.

The food is very good but the service is disappointing. We were literally the only people in the restaurant and our young server never checked on us a single time after bringing us our meal. My husband is a restaurant GM btw. He dropped the food and disappeared until we called him over to pay. In our experience, servers usually note that you’re satisfied with the dish, check laster regarding beverages, and then follow up with any final requests. WE flagged him down and he did ask if we wanted dessert. By this time, our glasses were empty and we were ready to leave. This restaurant is pricey so I would expect the service to reflect better.

The food was fantastic from start to finish! We would travel back to Coimbra just for another dinner here. Best meal we've had in a very long time.

The restaurant entrance was difficult to locate, had to ask. The wooden door was shut, we had an early booking, and there was nothing to indicate outside it was the restaurant. We had the set day menu. The vegetable soup had large fish bones in it. The fileted fish was full of bones. My steak on baked rice was ok. Generally it was underwhelming. Shame as the ambience was good as was the service.

Nice restaurant situated in a pottery

Lovely, cozy location. It was interesting to be in the midst of the pottery studio, and to see the products they use on every table. However, I found our food to be only just OK. Worth a trip for the atmosphere, though.

Wonderful meal in a very charming setting

We were told that the food here was exceptional but we found it just ok. The shrimp was very disappointing and the steak and fries ok. The service was good and the surroundings were lovely. I would not return though as we are all about food

Incredible ambiance, food and service. Staff is exceptional. The way they re-purposed the old pottery studio is fabulous. Wines are excellent. It's a great experience.

+3Some meals are just meals, and others become memories. Lunch at Refeitro da Baixa was a 10/10 experience. Housed in a pottery shop dating back to the 1800s, we had the rare privilege of sitting inside the old kiln — a stunning mix of history and ambience. The executive lunch menu was already excellent, but adding the wagyu tartare was the highlight: rich, layered, and unforgettable. Each course was beautifully prepared, paired with fresh bread, wine, and flawless service that struck the perfect balance of attentive and warm. What stood out most was how the space itself tells a story — a bridge between past and present, rustic charm and modern flavors. Refeitro da Baixa isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience, a reminder of why Portugal continues to be a world-class culinary destination. Highly recommend if you want food that lingers long after the last bite.

Everything was beyond of beyond.

Definitely the best meal we had in Portugal in 2 weeks of traveling around. The restaurant is beautiful and has a very unique setting due to the ceramic lab within it. Service was friendly and attentive. The steak was simply delicious and the rice with duck an incredible combination of flavors. If you’re in Coimbra you can’t miss it!

Excellent service and setting. The background music is super soft and the atmosphere is really quiet. There are no TV's or other noises annoying you. The staff was super nice and attentive. The food was delicious too, although the portions were smaller than what I would like, and considering the price of the desserts, they were a little disappointing. But our experience at Refeitro da Baixa was still amazing, we recommend it!

The young lady that waited on us was lovely! The atmosphere is incredible and the food is great. Must try!

The service and ambience were pleasant; however, the price-to-portion ratio was very disappointing. All dishes were significantly overpriced considering the small quantities served.

It was so memorable to sit and enjoy our lunch while watching the potters/ceramicists at work next door. The food was also excellent — we both had vegetarian dishes. We were also grateful to our server who was no tv patient and expedient when we let her know we had to have a rather quick lunch because we needed to get to the train station on time.

Both the food and service were excellent. One of the best meals we've had so far in Portugal.

Amazing food, such a delight. I got the crab on toast, snapper and the duck rice. It's so good I really wish I can return to explore the other dishes
