10/10We had an amazing dinner here for our first night in Matera. The view from outdoor restaurant is post card perfect! Gorgeous. And for food was delicious and creative while also using local ingredients. I had the vegetarian tasting menu which was exceptional. I highly recommend dining here.

3/10We have eaten at Regia Corte twice before when in Matera. This time was a totally different experience than before. The menu was very limited, especially the vegetarian tasting menu. The food was bland and very expensive. We had much better, tastier and larger meals in Matera for a third of the price. We will sadly not be returning.

6/10We had dinner at this restaurant on a recent visit to Matera. We read the reviews and expected an outstanding meal. Instead we were treated to an overpriced, overindulgent parade of dishes with a pretense to haute cuisine. We didn't like being for ced into a prix-fixed meal. Any way we tried, we had to order a minimum of 3 dishes to a total of 95 euros. This is unfair and exploitative!

7.5/10I emailed the restaurant weeks in advance to ask if they could cater for two gluten intolerant people for my daughter’s birthday. They assured me that there were plenty of gluten-free options and so I booked. We were unavoidably delayed but I called and left a message on the answer phone. When we arrived we were greeted after somewhat of a wait with a welcome cocktail and delicious gluten free bread and amuses-bouches. Antipasti and secondi were tasty, beautifully presented and original. The somelier was helpful and gave excellent advice. The waiting staff were overworked, it seemed and service was perfunctory. Our waiter gave up completely when it came to desserts, he told us that no dessert was gluten free (remember it was my daughter’s birthday) and dessert is her favourite course. After gentle prompting the waiter reluctantly admitted to being able to serve a sgroppino made with fennel sorbet. It actually worked surprisingly well, but would not have been offered if we had not suggested it. A disappointing end to a magical birthday trip to Matera and to be fair, the beginning of the dinner held promise and was very tasty. We live in Italy and are not tourists. Listening to the American voices surrounding us we realised that this restaurant caters to tourists mainly and rather cynically we suspect the staff feel they do not need to make too much of an effort as tourists tend not to return. We will return to Matera this November but will try many of the other restaurants on offer. Note to restaurant, try making a bit of an effort if someone contacts you weeks in advance. How can a zabaione not be adapted to someone who has to eat gluten free? Le Origini, the lovely hotel we stayed at also was alerted in advance that we could not eat gluten and home baked a fresh pistacchio cake, for breakfast - gluten free. That’s the way to please your clients and we will be staying there in November!

10/10This restaurant was recommended by our hotel and we were thrilled with the result. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly to us even though we did not speak Italian. The food was amazing, beyond expectation. We were not super hungry, so we ordered from the la carte menu and it was plenty and so good. Chef Pompeo came out to check on us and even offered to take our photo on the front porch with the amazing night view of Matera. We will return to Matera some day and this restaurant will be at the top of our must do list.

10/10We ordered 3 tasting menus while my wife was ill and ordered only legume soup. The restaurant was kind enough to accept the partial dining participation of my wife, but they shouldn’t take coperto on my wife. The fourth menu was pasta with churn oyster and seaweed and fried garlic, this one had fishy taste and smell. Suggestion to choice of wine selection was also excellent.

9.5/10We found this restaurant by chance, and we’re so glad we did! The food was amazing, we decided to go for the ‘Blind Menu’, and it was fantastic. The mood and ambience fit perfectly with the setting and the service was very good. We will definitely recommend to those visiting Matera!

6/10The restaurant benefits from a great view overlooking the SASSI and is away from noisy and crowded areas, immerse in a relaxing atmosphere. However, service level is extremely low. I had to send back a dish and was questioned about my judgement in doing so by the waitress. I had to reiterate how poorly cooked was the dish they served and suggest to pick something else instead. After she handed over the menu she disappeared and for the entire evening she did not even bother to check on me to see if everything was fine. Likely the maitre intervened, the only professional amongst them all. The disappointment is linked to how badly the problem was managed and on top, how they fast-dismissed my friend’s request to something different from a ham starter she could not eat. When you pay for so much, you do expect a certain service level which mirrors the bill…if this is the service level you can offer I advice to cut prices by 10 times. Recommended for the view not for the service. Food quality pretty average yet overpriced all in all. By the way the replacement dish was also charged in the bill even though I had to eat alone given that the other commensals had already finished as my dish, replacing the one sent back, it took 20 minutes to arrive.

10/10Amazing place. The views from the terrace are stunning and the interior also really nice. The staff were really friendly and incredibly helpful and accommodating with allergy info, basically everything on the menu could be adapted to be gluten free. The food was all stunning.

9/10Super tasty chef’s menu at lunch. Great atmosphere inside, and a wonderful view on the terrace. Very nice people too, just felt like the order of the dishes being brought to the table was a little awkward - first we got (my) antipasto, she got her salad and frisellone nearly simultaneously, and then I got my first and second dishes. But really it was very tasty so that’s totally fine!

10/10This restaurant with its beautiful settings with stunning views was ‘the icing on the cake’ or like Italians say ‘la ciliegina sulla torta’. Great service very polite and very professional with great knowledge on menu and wine list. Food superb and atmosphere very romantic. Everything surrounded by a Matera that is a real little gem in the middle of park of Murge. I would definitely go again and recommend this restaurant!

6/10Restaurant offers a lovely view of the historical centre of Matera. It‘s a really beautiful restaurant, the terrace is stunning and the internal space is really special with its ancient walls. However, the food was on average, the beef tatare didn‘t have traditional ingredients like raw egg or tabasco. The main dishes were quite good, but nothing outstanding. The service didn‘t recognize the empty bottle of water for more than an hour until we ordered the bill. It was also quite annoying to have the stuff walking over the huge pedestal of the umbrella at the terrace which made loud noises all the time.

8.5/10Wonderful location, setting, wine and meal. We enjoyed the creative mix of flavours. And everything tastes better when gazing over the hills toward the spectacular rock church.... a definite stop if you enjoy both food and ambiance.
