+6As always delicious food and wine, a lot of it from local producers. We were spoiled with several extra little dishes. Every mouthful is a new and delightful experience. Service is fantastic. There were axfew mix- ups; but nothing that really matters. Sat in the lovely garden in the shade under big trees and umbrellas. Just amazing

10/10It was a memorable meal in a lovely setting on the terrace. It was a tasting menu and it was delicious!!! Beautifully prepared & presented. It was pricey €300 plus 20% tip. And, it took awhile from start to finish but as I said it was a special & memorable evening.

We began at the bars with an apéritif. Bar service was a bit slow, but once we were served the menu was presented with a lovely appetizer. The menu was perfect. Each course was delicious and the service was excellent. Reasonable price for a delightful lunch.

10/10La Barbacane is memorably good. We had the Signature Menu with suggested wine pairings. Course after course was superb. It was, however, too much food, which we should have realized earlier in the meal. That said, the third course was John Dory grilled for which it would have been a sin to leave even a single molecule. I felt the same way about the chocolate dessert, but by then, I had to concede. Great, friendly service, able to adapt well to English speakers. Gorgeous room, and the wait staff enters and exists through a giant confessional. Outstanding, and very highly recommended. Worth the considerable cost…

5/10This restaurant is disappointing. It seemed pretentious and rather behind the times with cloches over the food which lacked variation . We enjoyed the first course, the vegetables ,and the pudding was good. Much play was given to asking us how we wanted our beef done which arrived very overcooked and a miniscule amount attentive staff who on the whole were pleasant although on e rather brusque. Can’t recommend it at all.

10/10Although we speak little French, and even then we do so poorly, we were made to feel welcomed and comfortable. The food was some of the finest we have had on our six week trip throughout France and the service was impeccable, relaxed and refined. This restaurant is a must for anyone seeking the perfect dining expierience.

8.5/10Michelin sets a high bar for awarding a star. It reflects talent, individuality and inevitably, a higher price. That can lead to extreme satisfaction or disappointment. Unfortunately, this evening was a mixed bag. Just because you can do something complicated doesn't mean you should. The ultimate test is taste, and frankly most of our dishes looked better than they tasted. The wine list is extensive, although I was disappointed that there were so few rose's. Very nice people; clearly, premium ingredients. A work in progress.

10/10The service was very professionell, but also very kind and personnel. The food was pretty excellent, the Exterieur formidable. All in one - very perfect. Highest rate for all! Next time in Carcassonne we stop here again!

10/10La Barbacane is the best restaurant I experienced in our vacation throughout southern France (inclusive of Carcassonne, Toulouse, Dordogne, Bordeaux). The service is attentive and impressive. The menu is structured for both a set menu and a la carte. The a la carte prices at ~€40 for starters and €40-50 for mains make the 6-course set menu at €95 (focused on 4 courses with lobster from Normandy) look like a good value. We had that and paired with a refreshing white wine from Corbieres. Highly recommended, especially if you are staying at Hôtel de la Cité.

10/10Extensive wine list and a very good menu as expected from a Michelin start restaurant. The sommelir was very helpful as were all the staff. Set in a beautiful building with terrace and gardens, superb site. We enjoyed a lovely meal but be prepared as it is expensive!

10/10Located in the historic hotel, atmosphere was wonderful, the food and wine were the best I have ever experienced. I will definitely miss this place and come back in a few years. MOSTLY RECOMMENDABLE!

7/10On balance this was a big disappointment. Service is fine. Ambiance is lovely. The seasonal tasting menu was awful. Take that chefs food processor away. Having puréed items with every course is too much. The contrast of flavors didn't work. The amaretto with the fish was a flop. The sherry on the pork was cloying by the third bite. The sommeliers wine pairing needs work. The white was to mineral for the tuna or turbot. The carignan was a nice wine but overpowered the pork.
