I had a great experience at this restaurant! The service was friendly and attentive, and the whole place is easy to get to — definitely a big plus. We tried their special 6-course menu, and it was such a treat. The truffle ravioli were absolutely wonderful, the pork with vegetables was cooked perfectly, and the ice cream with fresh fruit came with such a beautiful presentation. Everything was delicious. Overall, a lovely spot for a relaxed, tasty evening. I’d happily come back!

We booked for a group. We could order after a long wait. On the menu there were only few dishes. After ordering, the waitress told that two main courses were out. She collected the options again. Some of us assumed that they only must change/confirm the main course. When the food (well prepared and acceptable in taste) was finally served, they did not receive the starter ordered in the first round of ordering. When booking, we had found no information about any payment restrictions for groups (https://puurleiden.nl/groepen/). We needed to pay by card getting individual receipts. They refused. After much negotiation, they accepted individual payments, but without giving us individual tax receipts and simply splitting the total equally. The restaurant's website says that groups of 8 or more pay €39.50 for three courses (https://puurleiden.nl/groepen). Most of us only had one course. Each of us paid €57.79. We booked for 15, but were 14. They billed for 15. A very negative experience.

My wife and I day tripped to Leiden from Amsterdam. Passing down the narrow alley Pieterskerk-Choorsteeg between Pieterskerk and the Stadhuis plaza we noticed the restaurant Puur, and decided to stay in Leiden for dinner there. The restaurant opens at 5 p.m. and we were the first guests, although many others soon followed. Our hostess, Virginia, was delightful and most accommodating. She gave us a window table on the alley and took our drink and dinner orders, despite her cast on a broken right arm from a recent accident. She recommended a Romanian white wine (described both as Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc) which was perfect with our meal. My wife started with a scallops dish which had a heavenly sauce with traces of vanilla. I had a large smoked salmon sushi (with an incredibly seasoned rice base) and with a mild wasabi sauce that was perfect. Both dishes were delivered to our table by the Chef, Cooke, who attended to us through out the meal. For main dishes, my wife had halibut, again in a very delicious sauce, and I had risotto with vegetables and prawns. The risotto sauce was like no other I have had. Together with bread, water, mint tea and Remy Martin cognac, the bill was 127 euro, a real bargain. After returning to Amsterdam I looked at the reviews for the restaurant on Trip Advisor. I cannot understand the couple of recent negative reviews— unless they were malicious feints. Puur is a gem of a restaurant which I will recommend unreservedly.

It was a nice dinner however service took a while and the food came really quick when ordered. Food was nice but didnt feel particuarly special to other places. We had 30% off with the food so with that the cost of dinner was good. It didnt wow us to go back.

This is our fifth dinner at Puur. Food quality is amazing, great ambience and location. Only one disappointing point that our favourite dish coquilles were excluded from Fork discount without any warning on the website. We always order this starter and it felt like it was excluded from the promotion only for us. Despite that it's definitely our favourite restaurant in the old city of Leiden. We will be back!

It was a slow start with many things going wrong. However, the waitress was trying her best to make our evening enjoyable. We had a bit of the feeling that we were dining in the Faulty Towers ????. Regarding food we could praise fish dishes, especially coquilles and heilbot, highly recommended. The black Angus steak was very good in taste but tough and chewy. All in all it was a great experience. We will be back!

The food was alright. The veggies a bit bitter unfortunately. Waitress was forgetting drinks order half of the time and talked too soft while she was hardly understandable.

The service was in principle good, just it seemed they were understaffed so it was a bit slower (dishes not taken away as fast, slow for waitress to come by etc). For the rest, food was delicious, very able to cater to vegan needs. Friendly staff.

From the beginning, service was terrible. My wife was already seated when I arrived & I was told to wait until my table was free!We had to ask to see menus, our side orders were forgotten & no one asked if we wanted a dessert! They didn’t apply the discount to the bill! Food was tasty enough but there are superior restaurants in Leiden for a portion of the price! Was disappointed.

Worst restaurant ever. Nervous server offered us a Presecco on eventually being seated which we thought was free but had to pay for. Had to ask for a menu and waited 2 hours to get main courses. The food was salty and strange sauces. I complained on numerous occasions and asked to see the manager who refused 3 times to see us. The waiters apologized for the poor service saying they were busy and chaotic so therefore poor food and service should be acceptable. On complaining to the waitresses they were young and inexperienced and couldn’t handle it. Our bread went to the wrong table as did our wine. Complete shambles

We had an excellent dinner! We all chose the surprise menu and appreciated that they gave us each different things to try. The staff could not be more helpful, the atmosphere was relaxed and cozy and the food innovative and very tasty!

Was a yummy meal with good wine and great company! Good value for money for the quality of food. Would recommend and return again either with friends or family.

The food was delicious and the presentation was truly amazing!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't feel very comfortable in the table they choose for us, but the service was also great. We definitely will recommend the place to our friends and family

Slightly disappointing first experience with this restaurant. The sitting was quite cramped, with some tables just a meter from each other, so it lacked privacy and was quite noisy. The service was so-so, they politely did their job but that was it (we hardly caught any smile or interest). We were not sure about the wine choice, the waitress was not really able to help and then she poured it straightly to the glasses, with no possibility to taste first whether it was what we expected (which was not the case). The food was good and original although it did not fit my palate that well (unexpectedly too many sweat ingredients for my taste, both in the first and second course). It was worth to try but there are better options at this price range.

What a disappointment! This restaurant is overrated. Only the main dish (Kabeljauw ) was ok. The rest was low quality and pricey. The small bites served in between are not special either, just presented in a nice way. The biggest disappointment was the wine: BIO l'Auratae Catarratto Pinot Grigio. Again, low quality and the expensive. On the contrary, the service was good.

The food was very nice. Only it took a bit while. The service was rather good. I would definitely reccommend it to other friends.

After having had the word's best ribs we went back and ordered the 3 course surprise dinner with wine pairings. Absolutely amazing food and service. Highly recommended.
