4.5/10The waiter was a bit dismissive towards us, every time we called him to order he waives us away and said he will come back later. This happened a couple of times. At the end we ordered with another waitress, who was very nice. There were very long waiting times for the food and only after waiting a long while would someone come over ad tell us, that what we ordered was already finished. Happened with the oysters and then afterwards happened with the main dish as well, after one hour and 20 mins of waiting. You can imagine how hungry we were. We were always the last table to get their food. Not sure if bad luck or what was the reason. The food itself was okayish, but not the quality we are used to at Red. Hopefully the next time will be better.

10/10Great Atmosphere, Excellent Food and Service I recently dined at Red in Amsterdam and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is elegant and cozy, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing evening. The service was attentive and friendly, and the food was exceptional – everything from the steak to the lobster was cooked to perfection. The wine selection also complemented the dishes beautifully. My only suggestion would be to update the upholstery on the booths, as some of the seating was stained. Other than that, everything was fantastic, and I would definitely recommend Red for a great dining experience in the heart of Amsterdam.

5.5/10It was a busy night and RED did not appear to be ready for it. The euro 45 lobster tail was overcooked and the euro 40 bone-in sole was drowned in a lemon cream sauce that made it mush. The house red and white from Langueduc were both good and good value for money. The Gin and Tonic in a large glass mug with cucumber and red pepper corns was excellent. While there were long pauses between staff interactions and deliveries, everyone was very nice. The ambience is pleasant. RED is well located a short walk from the Leidseplein nightlife. We might give it a 2nd chance.

6/10Usually this restaurant is fine yesterday it felt like McDonalds. Super fast service We mentioned we wanted to start with oysters than a second starter and after that main course. They brought all starters at the same time and kept on pushing to serve maincourse it felt so rushed and not appropriate for those prices. They forgot the fork deal. Sloppy service for such high prices

9/10+3My husband and I chose this restaurant at random because they were listed on The Fork. Some reviews on Google were not so favourable so we went with no expectations and boy were we pleasantly surprised. The food was tasty, the portions were just right and the service was five star. Thanks to Donato for treating us like royalty. We highly recommend the lobster, foie royale and scallops. The oysters were amazing as well.

10/10The 600 gr. rib eye to share is really excellent. The waitress was very friendly and helpful and served quickly on our request, since my friend had another appointment. The ambiance is great, both inside and outside. Especially on this very warm day (29 degrees at time of our dinner) it is really nice to set outside close to the canal and feel a breeze.

9.5/10Been here before and have thus far never been let down. The two times before I had several courses (which were all great). This time we had just main dishes, the burger. LOVED IT! Asked to add some grilled bacon to both burgers as I saw it on the menu (with another dish) and they added it without any extra charges. One of the best burgers I’ve had - mine was baked rare; exactly as asked. Overall it was super cheap with the 50% off. Definitely doing this again soon.

7.5/10The food is good, but not great. The service is good, but not great. For the price, both the food and the service should be better. My steak was cooked more than I wanted / ordered (medium well to well instead of medium). I ordered the steak with a red wine sauce. I expected that the steak would be marinated in the sauce to make the meat more tender and flavorful, but it was simply on the side. I admit, that this was an assumption of mine that turned out to be wrong. It was neither stated by the staff or on the menu. However, it the steak was marinated in the sauce ahead of time, it probably would have been better. i tried a couple of wines, but didn't like either of them. This is a matter of taste, but one of them was so bad, that I didn't even finish the glass. The service staff were all very friendly. I enjoyed being waited on. However, there were a few things that the staff could have done better. For example, i ordered lobster and just received one utensil to dig the meat out of the lobster claw. I only received other, more useful utensils after specifically asking for them. Since you have to work with your hands to get the meat out of the lobster, your hands get really greasy and sticky. I only received wet wipes after specifically asking for them. Those are little things, but they make a difference. I ordered brussel sprouts instead of french fries, but was brought both. The waiter did repeat what I ordered beforehand so that I know that he understood, so I'm not sure where the communication went wrong. I was charged for the brussel sprouts even though they should have been a replacement for the fries that came with the meal. I did specifically state that i would be OK with that, if necessary. it would have been nice however, if they didn't charge me for the entire price. The brussel sprouts was an odd combination of flavors (balsamic vinegar, pomegranate & parmesan). It was different, than normal which I like. I'm still undecided if the flavors work well together with brussel sprouts. I ordered a "lava" cake with orange ice cream and was looking forward to the orange ice cream, but it was replaced by a berry ice cream, which was still good, but simply not what I ordered and not what I was expecting. This should have been communicated when I placed the order. The lava cake was really good. The ambience is really nice. I like the decor and the atmosphere. P.S. Please remove "lamp shade" on the door or replace it with a flatter lamp shade. It's easy to bump your head on it and simply get's in the way of opening the door. P.P.S. Please change the silverware. The forks are so thin that they are hard to use and the steak knives didn't cut through the steak very well. I understand that this is very nit picky! However, for the price, I think it should have been better. I think with a few small changes, the restaurant and the food could go from good to great.

4.5/10Steak was good but limited choice. Lobster was ok, only. Service was extremely poor. Booked table for 7:30pm. Waited 15 mins for menus. Then waited to order. Between starter and mains was over an hour. Never got offered desserts.

9.5/10Great ford and lovely, professional staff. The only negative was that half way someone decide to plan loud music via one speaker for the whole restaurant. But after asking, they turned it less loud. But the manager should feel this herself.

10/10The staff of Restaurant Red were extremely nice and attentive throughout our meal. Food was great too, as well as the atmosphere alongside Frank Sinatra’s biggest hit ‘My way’, preformed by one of the waiter himself. Keep up the good work, well done! 👏 we’ll come again very soon :)

9.5/10I eat here every time I am in Amsterdam. Fantastic filet and bearnaise sauce. There was one waitress who had to serve the entire restaurant and it was packed. She kept her cool and got us what we needed. Given how many people there were, the food came out relatively quickly. The only thing is the space is starting to look a little tattered and neglected. No hand towels or air dryer in the bathroom.

5.5/10What happened here? This was a very nice and vibrant restaurant. It still has the looks, but it completely lacks atmosphere. The service is not warm, there was no-one to greet us and it was quite empty. Also, the meat was great but the sauce cold and hard. All in all, it just misses the attention that makes the difference between great or in this case, disappointing.

6.5/10We had a reservation and were given two options for multiple open tables, both unappealing. The waiter took our order and after our meals were delivered, he never returned until we hailed him for our check. We saw multiple people walk in and take seats by the window, two with no reservation. The restaurant was not crowded, so no reason for the lack of attention or poor seating choice.

10/10Was there for dinner for 6 ppl. Not the first time, and certainly not the last. Such a wonderfull setting with nice ambiance and the food and cocktails were on point. One tip though, in the winter months do something about the door/curtain as it cab get chilly if you are seated close to it. Other than that, great staff, great place to eat!
