2/10Very disappointing. We booked for our 40th anniversary because, as newcomers to Alphen, we had visited 3 times and regarded it as the best in the area. We chose the 5-course menu. Good amuse and first course. It was busy, so we expected delays. Then everything went down. The soup was lukewarm, we had to ask repeatedly for our wine, the scallops (coquilles) were under-seared, tough and under-seasoned, and the dessert was almost inedible. Tasteless"pastry" you couldn't break, canned/jar cherries and cream in lieu of cheesecake. The staff seemed very preoccupied by the 2 gentlemen at the table next to us. Fussing over them and chatting a lot. Not a problem for us...until it became a problem! We were ignored for a great part of the evening, while 4 different members of staff stood and chatted to them for from 10 to 20 minutes each (I started to count from sheer irritation). When I mentioned this at the end, it was ignored. So disappointed. An important anniversary ruined. A disgrace.

9/10Was busy but the atmosphere was good, service a little slow due to the restaurant being 90% full but the food was excellent. Not our first time there and each visit has been completely satisfactory.

5/10I have never eaten such a boring omelet. There was nothing in the omelet, just three overcooked scrambled eggs on the tiniest bits of smoked slamon. No butter or sauce or anything on the bread and an unimaginative piece of salad without dressing on the side. Very disappointing for such an expensive restaurant. When they asked if everything was good and I said not really they didn't even ask what was the matter. Just continued to the next table. Will not be eating there again.

5.5/10Mediocre. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was nice. We sat outside, the view was lovely and the weather was really nice. It's the food that let this place down. We have had far better meals for half the price. For starters we had the duck and smoked salmon. These were both cold dishes, neither rememberable. The duck dish felt as if someone had opened a cold platter from Albert Heijn and layed in on a plate. The salmon was unseasoned and the side salad was bland. For mains, we had the beef tourendos and the lambrack. The lamb was undercooked by any measure, it was pink and chewy, not how you'd expect lamb racks to be served, which are usually well done and chard on the bone. The beef was served medium as ordered, it was fine, nothing special.
