We lived in Cartagena for 4 years and came across the restaurant by accident. We are now living back in New York but whenever we come back for a visit we hit Carmen Playa first thing! After our initial meal here we brought all of our visiting friends and family back because every time we visit Carmen Playa we have a memorable experience. Chef/owner Javi is a super creative and talented chef. His food is, without a doubt, Michelin star quality in every respect without being too fussy, pretentious or over priced! Sommelier/owner Carmen has created a stellar and fairly priced wine list and always recommends the perfect pairing for us. As a chef and restaurant owner myself, I know great quality and service when I see it and these two are the real deal!

A tasting menu for Valentines Day. Oysters, trout roe, stuffed courgette, scallops, grouper, duck, apple tatin, all excellent. Will go back again and again and again.....
