If you find yourself in Tunes, make sure to stop by Zig Zag Restaurant — it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we spotted the menu, we knew we were in for something special… lagartinhos and secretos de porco preto that immediately spoke to our stomach more than our heads! Every bite lived up to the promise — perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and truly satisfying. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, making it easy to settle in and enjoy the experience. A special mention goes to Katia, our waitress, whose constant smile and warm hospitality made all the difference. She was attentive without ever being intrusive, always making sure we had everything we needed. Great food, great service, and a genuinely pleasant vibe — Zig Zag is definitely a place we’d happily return to. Highly recommended!

Wonderful authentic portuguese restaurant. Incredible house wine and lovely servants. The food was the best we had in the area. All homemade and the desserts were the best we had in our whole Portugal trip. I lived for several years in Portugal and it’s definitely one of the best I ever went to. Muito obrigado!

This is a really good find. Third time we have been and consistently good especially if you like meat. Their meat sharing platter is fantastic and cooked to perfection. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

A lovely experience at Restaurant Zig Zag. From the moment we stepped inside, the welcome was warm and inviting. The choice of food was excellent and the taste exemplary. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Zig Zig. highly recommended.

Greeted by Katya -went with her suggestion of pork/beef meat board and Douro red wine. Plain,basic decor. No music. Couvert was tasty. Food was very good and well cooked - a skilled chef. offered dessert which was declined since too full. Ignored after our meal once other diners arrived despite repeatedly trying to ask for the bill. When we did get Katya’s attention she ushered us to the front counter to pay. Then said international credit cards were not accepted and it was cash only which we did not have. No prior notification of this. It became very awkward. Katya repeatedly said our credit cards not work on her machine! Did not try our cards despite our request. Suggested going to ATM to get cash or making international bank transfer to pay the bill. Had to ask for an itemised bill -came to 61.20 Euros. 30% only taken off the main meal and nothing else despite The Fork deal of 30% off entire bill. Very disappointing- our wedding anniversary spoilt! Travelled from Kimpton especially.

We are well welcomed and the food is very good ! We were waiting the train at Tunes, it is a great spot !

What a find. Wonderful welcome, delicious meat platter accompanied by Katya's wine recommendation at an incredible price. We've already booked for this Friday and will certainly be putting on our regulars list!

Never judge a book by its cover. Catya welcomed us with open arms. First offering what meat and fish, she had , we chose before even sitting down. Once seated and drinks served a ray of starters was brought to the table, superb. Our mains were served, again superb. Even tho we were now pretty full, she served us with a couple of desserts which we both enjoyed. A fantastic experience where there’s no menu, just what is available on the day, and very reasonably priced. Thank you Catya

such good food, meat platters are so tasty, we asked for the meat to be rare and it was perfect and the perfect quantity for 4 fatties too.

The meat platter was delicious, the puddings to die for and the waitress was lovely, spoke excellent English and very attentive. Zigzag is our new favourite place to take visitors.

Had booked here for 80th birthday lunch for my mother in law, after a quick search and based on reviews online. What a lovely place. Service was excellent -special mention to lovely Katja! Food was great and very reasonably priced. Lovely wine and puddings. Mother in law was delighted with complimentary pudding and gift after Katja found out it was her birthday. It made her day very special. Highly recommend this place. Unexpected surprise in this location -lots of locals eating -always a good sign. Thanks again for a great meal 😊.

Really lovely restaurant, delicious food and great prices. We were hoping to have seabass but they didn't have any so we chose fresh salmon and pan fried prawns. Both came with fresh vegetables and rice. The waitress was friendly and very efficient. This is a genuine Portuguese restaurant and worth the drive.

This restaurant was so good, we went back to eat there for a second time in a week. The food was superb, as was the service. Do not be put off by the facade of Zig Zag because is really worth the out of the way drive. Wonderful!

Visited with family and two young children. Sat in the quiet restaurant area. Able to choose food to be cooked from the food desk, meat and fish. Good experience, staff friendly.

This restaurant is one of the best value for money places along the Algarve. Chef Fatima never disappoints with the standard of meat grilled and the wines are fantastic. This is the fourth time of visiting with different friends each time and every one of them has been so impressed with the standard of food, the fantastic staff and the value for money.

The food here is amazing. The tomahawk steak is to die for as were the black pork ribs. The staff are delightful and nothing is too much trouble.

Very good restaurants. The staff was very friendly and gave us good recommendation for the food. The food was tasty, good present. Just one more thing that I suggest for the restautant is if the salad is charged for 3E it should be will more quantity as it came in a small bowl for us. Beside that, im happy with our choice and highly recommend goe restaurant to everyone. We will be back

Great experience and portions. Located in a charming town. Food was good. They have good house wine as well and great coffee. Desserts are homemade. It’s a little out of the way and they don’t accept credit cards other than Portuguese ones. My bank cards seem out of luck at most local ATMs as well so I gave all the little cash I had. Besides that, great experience.

The quality of the food was amazing and the staff was very welcoming and friendly. A fantastic family restaurant away from the tourist area.
