Unfortunately one of the guests was quite ill after the lunch at Retiro and we do not think it could have been anything but a problem with the tuna stew

Fantastic neighbourhood restaurant which has been there many years Portuguese food but different to normal as offered game, goat and variois cuts of meat with delicious stews and enormous portions . It was a cold , wet day so this was perfect food . I took half my lamb stew home which was a generous dinner for my husband ! Tucked away so you need sat nav !

It’s one of our favourite restaurants, but there is just a tiny issue due a lack of staff and the new staff not speaking either Portuguese or English, which is of course not their fault but does create extra pressure on the main staff. The food, ambience and quality win out and one is always guaranteed a wonderful meal with friends.

Room was too cold. Pork was dry and overcooked. Will not return.

We love this place don’t get me wrong But amélioration can be done. The quality of the service can definitely be upgrade for this type of establishment Really nice people just bad service, missing order Long waiting Wine service after the main course arrived Chaos on the table, they did not take the empty plates. Need to stand up to go get more water or condiments A good formation is needed how to serves in a decent restaurant. Also you can up sale your table if this can be done properly . Voila

Excellent food. The restaurant was a bit cold

Authentic family-run Portuguese restaurant thronged with families enjoying Sunday lunch. Our order was taken by a senior staff member whose English was decent. But the food and follow up service was from non-English-speakers. So when problems arose- one of the 3 lamb chop orders was over cooked and the wrong potatoes arrived- we had difficulty in making ourselves understood. The guy who took the order and understood us was nowhere to be found when these issues arose. But the food was excellent: creative couverts, gorgeous succulent lamb chops, lovely veal, chips, salad… delicious food. Three deserts were very adequate. A lovely meal for €50pp with wine, beer and coffee.

First time and will definitely be back … very nice restaurant

Great Portuguese traditional restaurant. Ambience is lovely with a big fireplace, The food is special, particularly the pork. It’s the best Portuguese restaurant I’ve been to. It is very difficult to find however- a sign in the road would be helpful

Worth the trip, excellent restaurant with attentive staff. Food was top drawer and highly recommended.

Beautiful evening by the fire and excellent food

Nice spot that seemed a bit out of the way. It wasn't a touristy place with lots of out of towners, but rather seemed like we we're "crashing" a party at someone's house. We'd definitely be back.

One of our all-time favorite places to take visitors for a real Portuguese experience

This place is amazing. ive been going to this restaurant for many years. They have gone upmarket with the furniture. The food hasnt changed, its still amazing. This restaurant is off the beaten track, but its our go to, whenever we are in Portugal. We always visit here. The prices have increased, but so totally worth it.

Two of us ordered Picanha, and two ordered pork and clams. the Picanha was so tough it was almost impossible to eat. The pork was very dry and also tough to chew. the food experience was very bad...we have been there several times before and haven't had any problems. we tried to talk with the chef to explain as I am sure they don't willingly want to serve such poor quality meat to other customers, but they wouldn't let us communicate. in fairness, they didn't charge us for the bad meals which is much appreciated. I am surprised that they don't have better quality control, as all the meat was like leather and it is something they could easily check in the kitchen.

This is a very traditional Portuguese restaurant- no frills. Great food, reasonably priced. But waiters not very friendly!

They seem to have a lot of new staff that were not as efficient as would be our usual expectation from previous visits. But they came through in the end and the food was excellent.

We were at a Family dinner and frequently go to this restaurant even in winter (low season). Food was good but service it was really bad. Employee throw the wine into the glass, some wine went through the glass and the table without cleaning, not even apologize!! they provide meet knifes and assume they should be used for starters, main meal, either if it is meat or fish. Nothing like this is acceptable in a restaurant with those average prices 25€ main meal. 32€/ person in average Unfortunately will not comeback again or recommend this place to friends.

2nd year/time coming to this restaurant. Great food quality (octopus, meat,…) efficient and kind service . Prices little high but not when in Algarve on summer, exception with desserts… really too small

Everything good except the prices are too high

We ve been going to this restaurant for years now. The food never disappoints but the service got so bad. There is no maitre d’. No one takes an interest in looking after the table. No trained wine waiter. New wine poured without being offered to be tasted. Also, the service is very slow
