Very personable service, like being welcomed into the family. Wonderful food and drink from the bread to the limoncello. I would go back again to sample more of the menu!

The manager/staff were very welcoming, especially to our grandchildren, explaining the menu options for them. The food was delicious and the service attentive and efficient. The complimentary gelati for the grandchildren and limencello for the adults was also much appreciated.

Excellent recurring menu with standout daily options as well. Friendly and professional service. We only wished we’d had room for dessert. When we are near Ortigia again, this will be our first stop for dinner.

The food was excellent, well prepared and beautifully presented. It is a family run restaurant the husband being the chef and the wife serving, but she more than served. It was like we were being hosted as guests in their home.

what a warm and inviting experience! friendly service, excellent food and reasonable pricing. We normally live and die by the Michelin or Slow Food guides, but we took a chance on this place and we loved it. Highly recommend!!!

This was an absolute gem of a restaurant! Fabulous food, and incredibly kind owner who served us with true Italian/Greek hospitality! Highly suggest as an overall pick in ortigia!

A lovely restaurant! Situated on a quiet street with a few outside tables, one of which we sat at for dinner. Really friendly service from both staff who spoke to us - our waitress gave us a great white wine recommendation (a white from the Etna D.O.C). We both had the orange glazed prawns with black rice and vegetables, which was delicious. Huge, beautifully cooked prawns with the vegetables chopped finely into the rice. Recommended!

We had a lovely meal here, service was excellent, its a family run restaurant and they take great pride in their food and service. We would definitely return when back in Ortigia.

Lovely restaurant with delicious food, good local wines and homemade bread. The friendly, attentive staff accommodated our large party at the last minute on a busy Saturday evening and really looked after us well. Wonderful, relaxing evening!

Excellent food and service! Wish we had gone earlier in our trip so we could go back a second time! This was the best meal we had in Ortigia. We had the mushroom avocado cheese appetizer And a pasta with tomato and zucchini strips and the fried mixed seafood plate. All the food was excellent as well as the service.

We loved the food. It was a quiet evening so difficult to judge the ambience correctly. Quality,definitely, need more support in a very competitive area!

The entire meal was outstanding. The owners are a couple and the wife runs the dining room while the husband is the chef. She was so gracious and fun to talk to,plus our dinner was delicious!

The restaurant was perfect. The food was amazing and the service was top notch. They were very accommodating with out kids and offered to serve a simple pasta for them. We highly recommended!

One of the best meals I've ever had. Smoked tuna on mango was unbelievably tasty. Seafood pasta was super flavoursome with plenty of seafood. Great selection of sicilian wines. Excellent service ,with a lot of patience and helpful advices. Do not miss the opportunity to dine at Retroscena!

Short walk from Fontana di Diana. Nice ambiance with excellent and welcoming service. Delicious dishes with homemade pastas, bread, and fresh fish. Lasagna with meat sauce and tortell with artichoke cream sauce were outstanding. Best options also on daily specials like swordfish Siciliano. Highly recommend; best to reserve in advance.

A charming restaurant with excellent food. We both had trouble choosing among the many options. I only wish we would have something similar in our hometown.

We were very taken with this small restaurant and ended up coming back two nights later. All the dishes we had were very tasty, and well-prepared. The server was the wife of the chef and was wonderful with her suggestions and attention to us all evening, even though she had several other large tables. We sat outside both evenings, but the interior is charming and inviting. We would recommend it to anyone who loves seafood done with skill and imagination.

Delicious food in a beautiful setting off the beaten path. Menu includes many unique dishes not typically found at other Sicilian restaurants, featuring plenty of local fruit and nuts. We particularly enjoyed the salad with sliced peaches, almonds, avocado and fresh caprino cheese, which was remarkable as we don't usually enjoy goat cheese. Highly recommend!

We loved our experience. Wonderful food , service and outdoor table on a quiet side street. Our waitress, the owner, was so charming and warm that it was an added delight. We tried the ravioli special which was superb, but all the food was delicious. Thank you so much!!!

Wonderful food. The crostini appetizer with champagne mushrooms and avocado is amazing. If you want to feel a little hug from Sicily, this is it.
