The food is okay, with a nice local touch and feeling. Giuseppe was a very nice, friendly, and amiable waiter and host. The only thing missing was good extra virgin olive oil. This is not just the case at Da Bacco, but at many other restaurants in Palermo, Sicily, and Italy in general. It’s a shame that in the country known for some of the world’s best olive oils, the majority of restaurants and trattorias serve shitty and poor-quality EVOO. Many, many people DO love and understand the good EVOO, and you can only imagine the unpleasant surprise when you get not what expected. :(

The location is great, it's bright and happy. But... Da Bacco played very loud music, some of it like Rock&Roll, not conducive to a calm dinner. The waiter brought a bottle of water, poured some in our glass - and onto the table; he just walked away; I took my paper napkin and wiped the water; he reluctantly brought me a fresh napkin - and that was the end of the happy communication. After that, he plonked dishes on the table with not a word, not even looking where they landed. He had no waiter manners (not even basic politeness) to make us welcome. The Caponata with Tuna was delicious. Then we both had the Veal with Pesto; my friend's was very tender, mine had a sinew in it and after a fight with my knife, I had to leave about 1/4 of the meat on my plate; I told the waiter, he was not interested. There was also a waitress, but alas not often helping us. Nobody seemed to really care except for that waitress. We were happy to leave, never to return.
