9/10A good restaurant in the heart of the Sassi. There are two main seating areas: a small one outside, at the entrance, where we sat and which we loved for its mild breeze and limited but still welcome view; and inside, which looks impressive but requires a steep walk down into an attractive cave-like setting (though it’s not dark, rather it’s well-lit with white walls and ceilings). Our meal was solidly above average and very reasonably priced, however not quite the outstanding cuisine which some reviews have cited. Attentive and gracious staff. Overall a good choice.

The service here was outstanding, the ambience was lovely, the food was excellent…what more can I say? Alberto is an incredible host, answered our questions and gave recommendations for the meal and wine that were excellent. He took great care of us, one of nicest meals in quite some time. We can highly recommend this restaurant!

7.5/10The welcome and friendliness at the restaurant was great, as was the service. The disappointment was unfortunately, the food. The bruschette was nice, the salad uninspiring and both our pasta dishes were quite tasteless. Maybe we were unfortunate,,but were expecting more, after reading reviews.

10/10You have two options: inside the mountain in what was the cistern in the past - historical and ‘cool’ ( nice in July/August when outside is unbearable ) or outside where you can enjoy the view and sun. Service was absolutely top, and the waiter did everything to schedule the food of all four of us. In short: in the historical area but short way to outside parking, excellent service with great and reasonably priced food. Found out later that this was ranked no.1 in Matera, something they absolutely deserve.

9.5/10We were spoilt by the staff and owner of this restaurant…. offering my guests a lovely bottle of Prosecco as a gift as it was their wedding anniversary .. food was amazing and dessert … well… you just have to try it ❤️ I highly recommend this restaurant … you cann’t be disappointed ❤️

The host was welcoming, the food was fantastic but we were tucked in a “cave” on our own and completely forgotten about, to the extent that we had neither plates or cutlery to eat our main “secondi” course!! We also received no 30% discount which we unfortunately didn’t notice until we got home. Such a shame as it was a lovely restaurant and the food we had was excellent, even if we did end up eating some of it with our fingers. I wouldn’t let our experience put you off as the food was great but hopeful the restaurant will see this review and up their game 🤷♀️

5/10With the caveat that reviews are so subjective….the restaurant building was unique as a water cistern and the history of the place appreciated. However much more could be done to maximise on the unique building in order to create a warmer a livelier ambience especially when the restaurant is competing with the charm of a warm evening eating outside watching the world pass by. The meat and cheese platter was huge and the flavours underwhelming. Our main courses (cod and mushroom pasta) were tasty however the vegetables we had ordered had been forgotten and when they arrived were underwhelming (I felt I could have created more flavour myself). The wine was excellent. The owner was under the impression that our waiter was going to give us a history of the building however that was not forthcoming.

10/10A huge thank you to Alberto for our amazing dinner!! From the minute we arrived, his enthusiasm and warmth made us feel so welcome. Everything we ordered was so fresh and delicious! And the whole atmosphere was so cozy and inviting. Thank you again, Alberto! You really made our night. And a big shout out to Angela, who was so kind and nice to talk to. And the young man working at the bar - grazie!!
