+1I had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a perfect balance of elegance and comfort. The staff were incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making sure every detail of our visit was just right. The food was truly exceptional—beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. honestly, it was disappointed dished. I can't remember except for well done smelly cod. Should be more fresh fish if the chef wants to do confit. service and mood were good though.

A more detailed note would be 14.5/20. A place not to miss. I went for the "6 moments" menu. The quality is excellent. There is no impaired taste. All was smooth. I took the wine pairing, which is nicely done. I'm not a fan of port wine, and was offered a substitute without having to ask. Service is professional. People knows well the rules of service. All staff is able to nicely articulate in English. With the quality of products, they have access to. They need to extract a bit more taste out to reach the next level.

It is aways great to return to Salpoente in Aveiro. Ambience is about the same, very nice. Service is outstanding, staff makes its most to make you feel well. Chef Duarte continues to prepare amazing dishes. Good selection of wines to pair with the food.

The menu was not long but presented really interesting choices which I had not had before. All three courses were beautifully presented, generous and very tasty. The wine list was good but oddly presented on an electric tablet - not as easy to leaf through as a traditional list. We did select an excellent and well priced bottle, though. The service was good but a little too “ever-present”. While in Portugal we have noticed that restaurants do not seem to always serve hot meals on hot plates - but, otherwise, a very good dining experience.

The options for Vegetarians was wonderful. We loved the food and the pairing. The service could get more improvement though.

Drawn by the many distinctions proudly displayed at the entrance, I expected a memorable fine-dining experience. The elegant, well-appointed setting promised an exceptional evening.Yet from the very first moments, the atmosphere carried a certain froideur — as though the restaurant relied more on prestige than on genuine warmth. Protocol seemed to overshadow the natural Portuguese conviviality. While the menu was crafted with care, its presentation felt rushed: no one mentioned, for instance, that the stars marked the chef’s recommendations.Furthermore, certain set menus became unavailable during service, leaving only the à la carte options without real alternatives. On the plate, dishes were competently executed but remained within safe standards, lacking both aromatic boldness and visual audacity. Prices are fair, but the emotional spark was missing. For a birthday celebration, a small gesture would have been appreciated. A respectable address, yet missing the soul one might expect.

This was my first time having a solo trip and I decided as a birthday treat to have a meal here. Everything was 5*! The staff were so pleasant and beyond accommodating. The food .. my goodness every meal was absolutely delicious. I'm fortunate enough to have visited many great restaurants. EVERY COURSE was faultless. I am typically indifferent to ice cream, even the ice cream was amazing. When I'm next in Aveiro I'll absolutely return. And have since highly recommended. Such a memorable time. The food was good. The wine as well, but the follow up on wine with the food could have been better. Also presentation of the food could have been better. The Music in the restaurant felt totally odd.

It was very tasteful. The menu ´in the hands of the chef´ was good but the explanation was very minimal and difficult to hear. (it is a surpise menu). The wine arrangement was (this time) also very concisely explained per wine (and few filled glasses). We have been here before with great pleasure but this time was the least of all times. Far too many waiters and each time a different one at your table. Something was not prepared properly (couscous) and this was reported but no feedback was received. Delicious food but the exclusivity is no longer there.

The service was good, the waiting staff were attentive and very helpful when things went wrong. But the food was an incredible disappointment. Things started badly when the amuse bouche for the Chef’s choice tasting menu was a mushroom arancini, which seemed a bit casual for a Michelin-level restaurant. It got much worse when we bit into it and found they were frozen in the centre. We were given replacement arancini but the standard of the food didn’t improve. The main course was a big plate of the typical local cod with straw potatoes- there was just not the innovation you’d expect of fine dining. It was great that they give us our bottle of wine for free to compensate but that couldn’t take away the disappointment for a meal we were really looking forward to.

We had a wonderful experience with the Menu de degustação. The food was exceptional and showcased the excellence of Portuguese high quality produce and the chef's undeniable talent. The wine pairing was extremely well chosen with excellent wines to match the excellent food. The only improvement point is that the dishes were served a bit too fast for our taste. We would have appreciated a bit more time between each serving.

In Aveiro for just a few days over Xmas 2024,decided to try the best reviewed it had to offer…Not disappointed…Attentive & knowledgeable service ( again multi- lingual..!) Classy interior design,very well thought out seating plan. 6 course Portuguese tasting menu a play/ twist on national and regional classics all beautifully presented,explained and paired with suitable Portuguese wines and ports… Exceptional standard of service from start to finish,incredible value for money - highly recommended.
