When we arrived our table was not ready and the reception staff were rude and nonchalant.

It was very busy and even though we had booked and confirmed, we waited 15 minutes before any of the staff took any notice of us. Finally a waiter waved us to a table and then vanished. Reappeared with dessert menus and vanished again. We finally accosted a server who had been chatting with customers and asked for menus. She provided them but said we should ask her coworker for any further assistance as she was bar staff. No sign of any coworker for nearly another 15 minutes but eventually we ordered. The food came very quickly and had clearly been cooked for a while and heated up. It was pretty dull and tasteless so we ate and left. In fairness, other customers seemed happy but we’ve had far better Indonesian meals and wouldn’t go back.

Great spot for the restaurant in the square. Very friendly people and prompt service. We sat outside and sat in between 2 sets of smokers who smoked their entire meal and ruined ours. Tables are very close together

Place outdated, should be renovated a little with different colours, black and red ceiling is quite disturbing, food ok but I had a better indonesian food in Amsterdam . Excellent service, very friendly and efficient.

Got treated like tourists because we had friends over from USA and we were speaking English and were rudely told to leave and go to the Rijksmuseum (in Dutch, which I speak). So I told them (in Dutch) that he didn’t have to be this way and that we were leaving.

We came here in 1969 when it first opened. It was the first Indonesian food we’d ever tasted. Almost everything else on P.C. Hooftstraat has changed since then, so we were delighted to return and find that SamaSebo remains the same. The waiter kindly recited the Indonesian names for all the dishes in our rijsttafel. It was a nostalgic pleasure to hear those words again.

I managed to screw up our reservation, the restaurant was fully booked yet the staff managed to find a table for us. They did not rush us, service was excellent and the meal was excellent and a great experience. The food is not spicy but condiments were provided to season to each of our tastes.

One of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. A great blend of a local cafe and an Indonesian restaurant. Great stuff and delicious food!

I was introduced to Sama Sebo many years ago the first time I visited Amsterdam and the quality of the food and the good vibe of the restaurant was the same today as it was back then. Look forward to coming back the next time I come to Amsterdam.

Dining at Sama Sebo has been an annual tradition for over 20 years. It's a great place for sharing a family-style dinner with friends and business colleagues. We usually take a group of 7-9 people and everyone is satisfied! When someone asks me where to dine in Amsterdam, Sama Sebo is one of my top recommendations.

We had the full rice table. The service, presentation and quality of the food were excellent. This exploration of the Dutch variation of Indonesian cuisine should not be missed.

We've never had the experience of a Indonesian Rice Table before and enjoyed it so much! The restaurant was a classic - recommended by an Amsterdam native plus a friend back in Chicago. The staff was friendly and funny - highly recommended!

The waiter never explain the rice platter and there was far too much food for two seniors. He even tried to get us to purchase two more extra dishes. Not good service.

Many thanks to all the staff for making our family ‘reunion’ rijsttafel dinner such a wonderful experience. The service was friendly and quick and all the wide array of dishes was enjoyed by everyone!!

Dining at Sama Sebo was like coming home for us. We had dined here in 2010 and couldn't wait to return. And we weren't disappointed in anything! We enjoyed the rijsttafel, which is a fixed priced dinner with more than 15 dishes! Service was fast and efficient, and the food was EXCELLENT! We couldn't finish everything, but we sure tried. This will continue to be one of our go-to restaurants in Amsterdam.

We found the service to be poor. One of us did not receive their dinner with the rest of us. When it finally came, it wasn’t correct. Waiters did not seem to care nor did they want to make it right.

Negatives: we didn’t feel welcome, the personnel in charge of the front of the house was rude and not caring even by Dutch standards (which are very low in hospitality industry). Positives: it was our first experience of an Indonesian restaurant, and the food was reasonably on.

A fabulous visit. We had the traditional Rijsttafel ,"rice-table " (a huge array of Indonesian dishes) which was very good indeed. The restaurant had a lovely authentic feel and our waiter was both friendly and knowledgeable about the history of Rjsttafel. We remembered having this on our last visit to Amsterdam and were so pleased to experience it again at Sama Sebo

A FRIEND’s RECOMMENDATION A friend recommended this restaurant as one of the best Indonesian in Amsterdam. We thoroughly enjoyed everything. You have a choice of the fixed price rijsttafel or, similar to dim sum, choose your own dishes. Moderately priced. Loved it
