2/10Got treated like tourists because we had friends over from USA and we were speaking English and were rudely told to leave and go to the Rijksmuseum (in Dutch, which I speak). So I told them (in Dutch) that he didn’t have to be this way and that we were leaving.

10/10We came here in 1969 when it first opened. It was the first Indonesian food we’d ever tasted. Almost everything else on P.C. Hooftstraat has changed since then, so we were delighted to return and find that SamaSebo remains the same. The waiter kindly recited the Indonesian names for all the dishes in our rijsttafel. It was a nostalgic pleasure to hear those words again.

10/10I managed to screw up our reservation, the restaurant was fully booked yet the staff managed to find a table for us. They did not rush us, service was excellent and the meal was excellent and a great experience. The food is not spicy but condiments were provided to season to each of our tastes.

I was introduced to Sama Sebo many years ago the first time I visited Amsterdam and the quality of the food and the good vibe of the restaurant was the same today as it was back then. Look forward to coming back the next time I come to Amsterdam.

10/10Dining at Sama Sebo has been an annual tradition for over 20 years. It's a great place for sharing a family-style dinner with friends and business colleagues. We usually take a group of 7-9 people and everyone is satisfied! When someone asks me where to dine in Amsterdam, Sama Sebo is one of my top recommendations.

We've never had the experience of a Indonesian Rice Table before and enjoyed it so much! The restaurant was a classic - recommended by an Amsterdam native plus a friend back in Chicago. The staff was friendly and funny - highly recommended!

10/10Dining at Sama Sebo was like coming home for us. We had dined here in 2010 and couldn't wait to return. And we weren't disappointed in anything! We enjoyed the rijsttafel, which is a fixed priced dinner with more than 15 dishes! Service was fast and efficient, and the food was EXCELLENT! We couldn't finish everything, but we sure tried. This will continue to be one of our go-to restaurants in Amsterdam.

5/10We found the service to be poor. One of us did not receive their dinner with the rest of us. When it finally came, it wasn’t correct. Waiters did not seem to care nor did they want to make it right.

5/10Negatives: we didn’t feel welcome, the personnel in charge of the front of the house was rude and not caring even by Dutch standards (which are very low in hospitality industry). Positives: it was our first experience of an Indonesian restaurant, and the food was reasonably on.

9.5/10A fabulous visit. We had the traditional Rijsttafel ,"rice-table " (a huge array of Indonesian dishes) which was very good indeed. The restaurant had a lovely authentic feel and our waiter was both friendly and knowledgeable about the history of Rjsttafel. We remembered having this on our last visit to Amsterdam and were so pleased to experience it again at Sama Sebo

10/10A FRIEND’s RECOMMENDATION A friend recommended this restaurant as one of the best Indonesian in Amsterdam. We thoroughly enjoyed everything. You have a choice of the fixed price rijsttafel or, similar to dim sum, choose your own dishes. Moderately priced. Loved it

6.5/10This restaurant was recommended by a native Dutch couple who travel the world. We had the Rijsttafel, which consists of about 15 small plates. We found the food to be very average, nothing special. We expected more flavor, especially since Indonesia is known for its spices.

8.5/10It was the first time we tasted Indonesian food. Initial reading of the menu was confusing since the main option was huge and the individual parts were not familiar at all. The waiter did explain that we could have a smaller portion which was listed as a lunch item. These turned out to be perfect for dinner and we were more than satisfied. The food was delicious and I would highly recommend this restaurant.

5/10Because we did not want Reistaffel for 2 and requested 1 only and some other dishes, we were recommended to have two of the lunchtime version, which was presented on one plate each rather than having each element in individual small dishes, as in a normal Reistaffel. Some of the food was hot and some lukewarm. I was disappointed and realised that this restaurant is only interested in selling it's premium priced product. The service however was gracious and the environment pleasant.

7.5/10I am not sure why this restaurant had to be booked so far in advance to get a table. It was nothing special and the food was of an average quality. However for a little over €30 they present you with about 15 dishes including hot and cold food, rice, chicken, pork, beef. All very tasty, but a lot of cheap vegetable dishes, which is probably why it’s such good value for the hungry. We noticed all the tables had dishes we didn’t, so we ended up having to ask for grilled prawns which they seem to leave off our menu. Overall very nice, a little cramped and poor ventilation.
