Fantastic experience all around! Santa Joana is on their way to a Michelin Star. The way the restaurant has been blended into the historical convent while preserving much of its nature makes for an experiential setting. The family style service provided opportunity for the guests to sample many of the dishes true to their Portuguese roots. The deviled eggs with tuna tartare were a highlight. The sommelier had fantastic energy and knowledge. While they had a nice curated selection from around the world, I suggest any of the Portuguese options. Finish the evening with a nice selection or Ports or Madeira’s.

Stunning location inside what use to a church that survived the historic earthquake. From greeting to finish professional knowledgable wait staff--host, server, sommelier -- food preparation and taste exquisite

Excellent service and incredible atmosphere. The food was laking heat and the plates were cold.

Food was delicious. However, service was slow & not like it was on our first visit in October.

It is hard to say a bad work about this place. The location is wonderful, staff so friendly, food incredible and fantastic drinks.

This restaurant has inviting atmosphere with soft lighting and modern decor. I ordered the signature Bifana which was delicious and very different from the original style, I much prefer Santa Joana bifana. I had a leek and a beef tartare with fries for the main. The leek was the best, they were all mouth watering and perfectly cooked. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable making us welcome from the moment we walked in. It was worth every penny. I would highly recommend this place!

The service, the food, the ambiance are absolutely perfect. This is our favorite restaurant in Lisbon. In my opinion is way, way better than other restaurants with Michelin stars. We moved to Portugal 3 years ago and Santa Joana is our “go to” place when we want to get a five star dining experience.

I really enjoyed the experience and the food, but I found it pricey.

This is the BEST culinary experience we’ve had in Portugal since we’ve been living here in three years. We have been to Michelin rated restaurants here and in my opinion this restaurant surpasses them by far. It will not surprise me if they get a Michelin star soon. They truly deserve it.

I’ve been to Santa Joana several times lately, and I absolutely love it. The service is always excellent, and the food never disappoints. It’s quickly become one of my favorite spots

The ambience and the service were excelent. Also the food. The conventual pastery was delicious. However, the menu could have more options.

Best food we have had during our 3 month trip to Europe! Lovely service from wait staff and charming sommelier. Small menu but every element has a purpose. Cool vibe and beautiful space. Highly recommend.
Santa JoanaThank you for the superlatives! To stand out after 3 months in Europe means a lot to us. And the greatest compliment of all is when you said, 'highly recommend.' Obrigado!

+1The food, the service and the ambiance was beyond excellent. We shared 3 starters of oysters, blue fin tuna carpaccio, and grilled romaine hearts with assorted breads….and then shared dessert….this was really more than enough food for two. We also ordered and shared a main course for 2/3 of sea bass which although excellent was probably too much food for two. I would absolutely return to Santa Joana. The staff were very knowledgeable and attentive. This has to be one of the best restaurants in Lisbon….thank you Santa Joana team for an amazing experience.

Staggeringly good restaurant with amazing staff

Very expensive for what you get. Standard, high end dining with little that was truly memorable. There are far better restaurants in Lisbon.

One of the better places to eat in town

Our group had been looking forward to eating at Santa Joana after reading all of the spectacular reviews from other patrons. When we arrived we were greeted with a smile and given a brief history of the location. After we were seated we waited a while for our server, but when he arrived he provided a very detailed description of the menu and recommendations for food. Since the pork entree got rave reviews, every one in our group ordered it. The server did mention it would be served medium rare but assured us that it was safe to consume. We did ask for a few starters and the steak tartare was generous and quite tasty. I got the mackerel fritter and although it was good, the portion was very tiny. After the starters we waited over 30 minutes for the main course. When it arrived, everyone’s pork was cooked in different stages of doneness. Mine was okay, but 2 others were raw and one overcooked. No one ever came to check on us and our waiter nowhere to be found. It was so disappointing!

Special food. Everything well conceived and cooked. The pork was a standout. Sat at the bar as a solo traveler and they made me feel welcome. Could not recommend more positively.

good, I must confess, but overpriced food. 55 eur seafood rice did not impress as much as it costs and the wine list is recklessly cruel, not leaving you any budget option. Bottles prices start from 60eur...

The price of turbot rises from 27 to 40 euros in 4 months.

Amazing food, the raw fish section is perfect. The service itself was really good, only complaint was a waiting time after the reservation hour. Around 15 minutes, but the employees were perfect. The ambience is amazing.

Incredible spot, one of the best dishes I’ve had in Portugal. Modern and light, incredible unique wines and impeccable service.

Amazing Environment!! All perfect from Reception, Food, light, waiters, everything!! I will come back for sure!!

The meal didn’t quite hit the mark. While we were expecting a well-balanced dining experience, the food was heavily over-seasoned. The tartare, in particular, was a letdown—almost completely overshadowed by the overpowering spices, making it difficult to taste the meat itself. It wasn’t the flavor profile we had hoped for

Best service I’ve ever had
9.5
Exquisite cuisine! Service was friendly and attentive, with a few teething problems, which is understandable in its implementation phase. As for ambience, there are different rooms, and although we were very happy where we were seated, I would not be so sure in other areas. The little cells are perfect for romance, but can be overlooked by staff. And the upper seating area can feel somewhat too crowded. But overall a great restaurant, and look forward to going back.
