2:30h waiting for food!!! Terrible customer service

A bit of too much noise, but everything else is great!

The service was ok. I did not get the correct sides that I ordered. The dish I ordered was not as it was listed in the menu. The pork was tough and covered in a mushroom gravy.

The food was delicious and Victor was an excellent server! We were so glad to visit Solar do Bacalhau for our only dinner in Coimbra!

This is a huge place and the atmosphere seemed very commercial. The service was rushed. The food was not at all as the reviews claimed. We expected a very good meal from what we read, as it is included in the Michelin guide, and instead, I didn’t eat my dinner.

Excellent and very friendly service and recommendations.. i had one of the house specialty cod dishes in a cream gratin sauce, and wife had far more exoensive cod loin steak. Mine was better!

Traditional cuisine with a twist. Service was excellent and food was nice. If you want to experience the Bacalhau, this is definitely the place to be.

The service was excellent but we just found the food mediocre. We shared a large salad, a pizza and the Secretos de porco com ananas e gambas. The pork was not nearly as good as at another Bib Gourmand restaurant in Lisbon and the pizza was very ordinary.

Driving up from Lisboa to the Douro, we stopped here and had a wonderful lunch. Our server was excellent, was expert in wine, and made recommendations we were grateful for. The food was some of the best we have enjoyed in Portugal.

This was my second time dining at Solar do Bacalhau, and just like before, it did not disappoint. The food is outstanding, Naturally, we had the codfish — and it was absolutely superb. The service is top-notch — attentive, friendly, and professional, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. If you’re in the area, this restaurant is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back again!

Didn’t realize how nice inside was; we were seated alone on side street. It wasn’t a pleasant place to eat with cars going past us and no one around.

The perfect place to experience infinite versions of codfish in the Portuguese manner. Helpful, happy, and smiling staff gave good guidance and were fun to dine with.

This restaurant was recommended in one of the travel books we purchased and was right across the street from our hotel. The atmosphere is lovely and our server was very friendly and knowledgeable regarding the many different wines and also the food offerings. COD is not my favorite but they do a good job of serving it many different ways. You will more than likely find something you like on their extensive menu.

One of the two Cod dishes was more tender than the other. Both dishes were on the salty sides.

The waiter did not speak English, so foreign guests could not clarify their order. The waiter's manner of communication was dismissive. The tomatoes in the appetizer were unripe. We were disappointed.

I mean, it's THE house of salted cod. It's the thing that you must eat when in Portugal. The place is huge and the food isbn't expensive either. There are a wide range of dishes, especially those with Bacalhau. The service is so-so, but the waiters are all friendly, so that helps a lot. One good thingl to know is that they actually have half bottles of wine, but they arent on the menu. If you ask your waiter, they'll happily bring you one. In short, if you're in Coimbra, definitely go.

Service was prompt and friendly. Restaurant was huge and nearly empty. No wine by the glass. Brought me a half bottle that was poor quality. Tried to upsell me on dinner but I ordered Bacalhau en bras. It was lukewarm and I didn’t like the nearly raw egg it was mixed with. Maybe I just chose poorly. But I didn’t enjoy anything about the experience.

not the quality of the Portugees food and the prices are way to high for the portions that you get. ambiance is ok, but service is only good in the beginning...later on not anymore. main dishes were served so quick we even had no opportunity to finish our starters!!! everything went cold, also no attention to change the fork/knife/plate, you have to ask it by yourself...and of course the food taste, quality is far under the Portugees standard..only carpacciode bacalhau was actually good. i do not reccomend this restaurant!

It's clearly a restaurant for tourists - extensive menu with pictures, and not much ambiance. But they were open at Christmas when most other places were closed, and the food was fresh and quite tasty. Lots of drinks to choose from as well. Service was friendly, and we enjoyed our dinner.

Loved the location. We had the cod/prawn skewers and they were amazing. We also had jumbo prawns for appetizer and they were lovely in terms of flavor and presentation. In regards to drinking....If you want a traditional martini though, it may not be the place. Stick to ports, vinho verde, duero wines or even port-tonics! They do them well!
