The waiter was very attentive and eager, perhaps a bit too talkative for some. The highlight of the menu is probably the Matrozzini, which are baked by the owner’s grandmother herself. Apart from that, the menu is currently being revised, so unfortunately, some dishes were unavailable. The Carbonara was good but not outstanding. The Tiramisu was similar—there’s still room for improvement. Overall, we felt very comfortable and had a lovely evening.

7/10Half of the wine list and part of the main menu are unavailable. The second course is served with two pieces of heated sausage (porchetta), although the English menu says brisket. The octopus is soft, but very oversalted. The truffle in the carbonara is a bit strange and smells like rags.

Dear Customer, Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate every opinion, but I’d like to clarify a few points. Our wine list includes over 80 labels, with only four unavailable—not “half.” As for the menu, only one dish was replaced with braised beef cheek, not simply removed. Checking the menu online rather than booking based on a discount would have made this clear. The brisket is indeed prepared as porchetta, as stated. The black truffle we use is of the highest quality and certainly does not resemble “rags” in taste or aroma. Sospiro Trastevere offers fantastic food with a menu that truly celebrates Italian flavors. Every dish we tried was delicious, showcasing fresh ingredients and thoughtful preparation. The wine list was impressive, featuring a great selection that perfectly complemented the meal. Our experience began with attentive and friendly service, setting a positive tone for the evening. However, as the night went on, we felt rushed, and not all of our orders made it to the table. When we pointed this out, the staff acknowledged the oversight and made an appropriate adjustment to the bill, which we appreciated. Despite the hiccup, the quality of the food and the excellent wine selection make Sospiro Trastevere worth a visit.

6/10Parts of the Menue are excluded from the discount; not fair!

Please note that only one dish on our menu is excluded from the discount on The Fork, and that is the "Carbonara with Fresh Black Truffle" which costs around 1,000 euros per kilogram. This dish is not included in The Fork menu nor in The Fork website, and therefore, the discount does not apply to it. We kindly suggest reviewing the menu online carefully before making assumptions, as the exclusion is clearly stated, and we believe it is not "unfair" as you mentioned. Located in the heart of Trastevere, our dinner in Sospiro was a delightful addition to our rome trip. The staff are very kind & accommodating and the food was superb! I personally loved their artisan Maritozzo and Cacio e Pepe. Excellent food and service 👍🏽💯

9.5/10‘We had a lovely dinner at Sospiro last evening .The room was pleasant and the service was exceptional. We started with the maritozzo with carbonara and the fried mozzarella. Bother were perfectly prepared. The maritozzo was particularly interesting because that is typically a breakfast pastry filled with cream rather than an appetizer. I then had the punto di petto of porchetta. It was very flavorful and the richness of the meat and gravy had a nice counterpoint with the salad of fennel, orange and kalamata. My daughter had the gluten free pasta with ragu and enjouyed it very much. My wife had the amitriciana—the classic Roman pasta. That had a very nice level of spice. We shared a reasonably priced and excellent Valpolicella Ripasso. Excellent experience. We will definitely return.

Additionally, out of three carbonaras served, only one was left uneaten, so we think it may not have been to your taste. We would have appreciated more direct feedback during the dinner, as we would have been happy to change the dish and resolve the issue on the spot. Our carbonara is, in fact, one of the most appreciated dishes, so it’s a bit surprising. Perhaps it was a matter of personal taste or just a coincidence. 9/10All of the food was nicely prepared and generous in amounts. It’s a busy location on the street, but we were there early and able to take advantage of the evening activity just starting up. Imagine that later on the bar action might heat up and the space could be noisy, but that wasn’t the case during our time at the restaurant. Creative menu and good proportions. Bon appétit.

6.5/10Overall ambience is lovely and the restaurant feels classy. The decor is to a high standard. Service was also good. Albeit the waiter could have been more knowledgeable on the wine menu. Food unfortunately was novel in its conception but wasn’t as well executed as we may of liked. It wasn’t bad by any stretch, but after seeing the decor we had higher expectations. Maybe it was just our experience, but the sirloin was slightly tepid, and overall there was too much salt in the two pasta dishes we ordered. However we had a lovely evening and the strawberry cheesecake was phenomenal.

10/10Exquisite food - possibly the best pasta we have had on our three week tour of Italy! We hadn’t tried maritozzo before but it was delicious. When we left the restaurant we couldn’t believe how big the queues were to eat at other places in Trastevere when Sospiro had tables available - must be a proper hidden gem. Highly recommended.
