Food was dire, clearly reheated - don’t understand any of the reviews here. it was incredibly hot inside and not very busy. The chorizo in white wine was like pepperoni in water and the calamari was like eating a car tyre.

Overall, this a common tapas restaurant. The food was tasty and the portions were also good for two. Definitely try the calamari, they were delicious. The employees were nice bit sometimes it was hard to for them to come to the table when called. However, it was a positive experience!

Fantastic traditional bar with great selection of food. I’d recommend the Raciones de la taverna. Larger than tapas dishes, each option served 3 of us. We opted for 5 dishes but would have managed with 4.

Very nice place with real food (not microwaves or god knows what…). It’s simple but tasty. It’s not a fancy place but you will eat well:) I recommend it and will go back.

Was such a great experience. Food was fantastic and so reasonable. Staff were really friendly. We were a group on 14 and everyone enjoyed the night so much. Couldn’t recommend it more

We really wanted some authentic Spanish food and we stumbled upon this lovely place. This has to be one of the best meals we had in Madrid. The food was simple yet extremely tasty–and aren’t all the best meals made this way? If you ever find yourself in Madrid, I highly recommend Taberna del Colono. Our host was very patient (since we spoke little Spanish) and really looked after us. Every dish we ordered–from the tapas to the main courses to the dessert–was excellent ❤️

We weren’t sure what to expect as it was only our second day in Madrid. We ordered the croquettes, the manchego cheese platter and asked for the broken eggs and steak. We didn’t expect 9 croquettes and a whole block of cheese, which ended up being too filling that we didn’t get the broken eggs and steak. Had we known the portions we probably would have just gotten the eggs and steak. Regardless, it was delish and would recommend those two apps!

Inedible food, dirty, poor service. Wine is ok. Had positive expectations based on the reviews, but it was the worst restaurant experience I've had in years, and definitely the worst in Madrid. The place was completely empty when we entered and the plate of my companion was dirty underneath. We thought of leaving but decided to give it a chance as the reviews were so good. The server recommended octopus. It arrived within a minute and was obviously reheated, served on cold slices of potatoes, oily, no taste, and very overcooked. Nothing about it was fresh- I've had excellent octopus many times in Madrid (shout-out to Taberna Mas Al Sur and Pulperia Victoria), and that was not it. We tried to eat it but after 2 perfunctory bites each, we couldn't. It was literally inedible. The server just shrugged- no apology, no offer to make it better in any way. At c€17 that we had to pay for the dish, I'd expect to at least be able to eat it. I rarely leave bad reviews, I'm happy with most restaurants, I don't expect Michelin-level cooking from a local taberna. But this was beyond bad- from food, to cleanliness level, to service. The wine was ok.

It’s a typical restaurant in a central area, the atmosphere is very nice inside. The food is good, I’m not Spanish so I can’t give an objective rating, but I think the picañha was superb! On the other side I have to say that in general the food is full of spices (I think it’s typical of their cuisine) so be careful if you don’t like strong flavours!

Food excellent, we keep a mix of jamon y queso, a fantastic meat and the chocolate cake. Service very good, the owner very polite. In a friendly atmosphere. I suggest it!

Not recommended at all! Service was slow, menu is expensive for what they offer (classical tapas, 8-9€ for some brava) and it’s usually overcrowded and noisy. They even made us pay the chupitos after the bill, when in all Spain is a tradition to invite your customers to a shot after dinner). We didn’t feel so welcomed as customers.
