I absolutely love this place. I first discovered it during a trip to Portugal in 2024, and it left a lasting impression on me. The food is simply magnificent, traditional Portuguese cuisine with a subtle, creative twist that makes every dish unique and memorable. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy, perfect for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. I highly recommend it to everyone!

Not sure what all the clout is about. We ordered the beef cheek, garlic ray, mushroom rice and Orange salad - unfortunately the salad was the highlight and everything else left much to the imagination. Dishes were underwhelming, lacking any culinary execution. We made a reservation at open for lunch, the plates came out staggered over 1 hour, so no two dishes could be enjoyed together. What a shame, so much room for improvement. Even on a stellar service day, it cannot make up for the mediocre tasting dishes the kitchen serves up.

Not good experience. I had steak tartare that was pretty average then my baby shrimp took forever to come, after I checked in on it then it came immediately but it smelled and tasted really off, so I just paid and left after tasting it.

We are foodies and Taberna Sal Grosso Alfama is the best restaurant we experienced during our stay in Portugal. Every dish we’ve tried was incredibly delicious and the service is great as well. Strongly recommended. If you are to visit only one restaurant in Lisbon, make sure it is this one! 😊
