Delicious food, especially good for those who enjoy dishes. The faisan pie is delicious. The atmosphere is peaceful, and it's right in the center of Sintra—

For me… the marinated white anchovies to start. The meat pie was incredible that my wife and I shared. And my grilled sea bass was awesome! I’m going back!
8.5
Great service and good food, if a somewhat limited menu.

Menu was full of interesting choices. Started with a shared mixed salad. Husband had a half partridge with wonderful sauce. Was served over interesting cabbage leaves and wonderful cheese potatoes. I had a gorgeous sea bass dish with almond sauce which was the best fish dish I have ever had. Served with a mix of perfectly cooked vegetables. From the outside the place doesn’t look great—-but inside it is charming. An old stable. Service was outstanding

We loved Tacho Real. The atmosphere was cozy and the food was tasty. We had a great lunch and would love to come back.

Great service and food! It is now on our short list of restaurants in Sintra.

While we overall enjoyed our lunch, we were looking for a Portuguese lunch and felt we were eating at a British diner. it feels like the dishes have been adapted (e.g., my codfish was not salty at all) to foreigners taste, which I did not understand would be the case based on the menu or anything else prior).

A really nice restaurant with special dishes that you won't find easily. A special one for a special occasion.

Great place, a must go in Sintra!

Amazing traditional food and great service!!

Very hard to find the place. We went in the evening. Plus it was raining. Once we found it, we ordered a dish recommended by the fork. It was enough for 4 ppl. We were just 2. I would not have ordered bread had I known about the big portion. Food tasted good

The food, definetely!

Good quality of food, Quiet location, very good service. Quail puff with foie gras was delicious and the tenderloin steak was scrumptious. Beef Wellington was ok good. But dessert has no surprise and pre-make already. Over all was good and will recommend !!
7.0
It was good, but not the kind I would want to go back to.

Outstanding food and service. My wife said the "Tenderloin Tacho Real" was perhaps the best steak she ever had. My steak au poivre was excellent as well. Highly recommend.

Great Service, great food, great ambience!

Everything was delicious and well presented, the staff nice and friendly and we didn't have to wait a long time to be served. Overall it made our sunday special, I'm sure we'll be back bringing friends and family. We had the Game Pie, the Pumpkin Soup, the Cod and the Seabass, plus rice pudding and chocolate cake - everything was great.

Lovely restaurant with good service by attentive staff. However my fish dish arrived, nicely presented, hot vegetables but the fish was cooler than look warm, in fact cold. Sent back and returned a few minutes later after a couple of minutes under a grill. Well sorted out.
6.5
The pumpkin veloute lacked pumpkin or spices to my taste. The fish with almonds was unexpectedly fried and chewy, little sauce. The mixed salad and house white wine were good. Staff were nice and attentive. But I ate at a great restaurant in Lisbon the night before and so the bar was set pretty high. Unfortunately, this was disappointing in comparison.

Very charming interior and nice ambience. Staff were excellent - friendly and attentive. Food was brilliant, and we had the pumpkin veloute which was so delicious. The sea bass was good but not too special - the cod however was fantastic, and definitely worth coming for. Desserts were really enjoyable too. We really enjoyed this restaurant and would recommend to all.

A real gem. Great atmosphere and service. Food is traditionally cooked and very tasty. We enjoyed our lunch very much and hope to visit again!

Was a nice restaurant with lovely staff and decent food but there's a lot of competition in the area so wouldn't go back. It was quite old school and very grand. We also were just after a light lunch - from the menu I think meat eaters and those looking for something more hearty would enjoy. It was empty when we arrived at 12:30pm but by the time we left around 2pm it was definitely more lively and full of mainly Portuguese clientele.

There were many tables available and they wanted us to seat right next to the heater which was extremely hot, we were either going to sweat during the whole meal or getting on fire... I don't understand these restaurants that have many tables available and try to seat clients on the worst tables, are they oblivious on how to run a business? We ordered the codfish for 1 and Partridge for 2. The codfish was nice. The Partridge portion was not enough for 2 and it was super dry with a very bad and exaggerated pepper sauce. Way too expensive for the quality of the food. What saved the experience was the deserts... The man that served us talks in a fancy way to give the impression that the restaurant is fancy but his fingernails were all bitten and were dirty, his fingers had dirty spots... Disgusting. Overhyped and overpriced.

We have dined at Tacho Real on various occasions over the past 35 years and it holds great memories for us. In this time, the restaurant has changed little (in the best possible way) - it is still owned by the same family. It is quite traditional but very good value overall for the quality of food, service & ambiance. Definite;y an essential part of any visit to Sintra.

This little restaurant was a great way to finish our trip in Portugal. We had NYE dinner there and the restaurant was busy as I think it might have been the only place open in Sintra. Our server was attentive and the food was delicious.

We had the olives, bread, anchovies and three mains: 1) cod, 2) hake, 3) steak. All excellent. We started with a mixed salad. We had rice and french fries as sides. Well worth the 90 euros spent for 3 adults and 2 kids. My husband said the house white was good. The service was good too. I would definitely return. Great ambience.
