The food was a lot of effort and clearly crafted with heart, just it is still not perfect so i withheld half mark if i could; Service very attentive, just the services was a bit slow; and the detailed explanation of wine and dish are all welcomed. The final recommendation of sweet wine was also spot on. Have a very decent and comfy environment. And good ventilation too (sometimes in other Europe restaurants indoor it would be a bit suffocating, but surely not this one).

We visited Taverna Angelica near the Vatican, drawn by its glowing reviews. Warmly greeted, we were led to a soulless, windowless room. The kind server brought delightful grissini and crackers, sadly the meal’s highlight. The starters set the tone: tuna with yuzu arrived over-styled but tasteless, while the "four mushrooms" amounted to a lone slice on bland cream—a cruel joke. My wife’s choice of fish was unavailable, with the Maitre D vaguely blaming post-New Year supply issues, suggesting sturgeon instead. The mains came an hour late despite a half-empty restaurant. The kids' truffle pasta lacked truffle and portions were laughable. My wife’s sturgeon was inedible; my plate equally disappointing. None of us could finish, and the half-full plates were whisked away without a word of concern. Hungry and disillusioned, we rushed to Baffetto for pizza to salvage the day. How this pretentious disaster garners praise is beyond me—it’s a disservice to Italian cuisine.

Easily the best part of our trip to Rome. Everything was impeccable — the food, the presentation, the ambiance, and especially the service. We loved our server; he gave fantastic recommendations and was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and engaging. (He also spoke four languages!) We were very obviously tourists, but he made us feel so welcome and cared for. I'd recommend everything we ate, but especially the mackerel, the artichoke, the veal tongue, the eliche, and the milk and cereal. Really, though, all of the dishes were so surprising and creative. It was a Michelin star-worthy experience from start to finish. I'm only sorry we didn't discover it earlier so we could have had more than one meal there.

Incredible meal! This place is a little off the beaten path, but very close to the Vatican museum. Creative and interesting dishes, and lots of little extras! And very reasonable for the amount and quality of food.

Francesco, our waiter, was extremely attentive and took great care to avoid our daughters’ nut allergies. The food was delicious from start to finish! We all loved the atmosphere and would definitely recommend Taverna Angelica!

We had a Chef's Special 5 course menu on 15th of March. Absolutely stunning food with extremely high quality of service. Definitely would recommend if you are nearby in Rome.

Very nice experience with 6 course tasting menu with wine pairing. If you are looking for an upscaled restaurant in Borgo Pio, that’s the place.

+8Very nice gastronomique experience but be careful for vegetarian the 6 courses Menu at 50€ is not available anymore ! So minimum 65€ per person . Nice service totally high standard and trilingual Italian French English . I recommend en evenings

We went because we had a 50€ discount with The Fork, and it didn’t worth it at all. The food wasn’t good at all, nothing tasted really nice. One of the dishes we ordered was simply not acceptable, they had poured far too much salt (it felt like drinking sea water), and even though we told them, they didn’t apologise or nothing. The atmosphere was bizarre: the restaurant was empty and the few customers inside looked at each other like wondering “what are we doing here”. They believe they have an elevated cuisine restaurant, and maybe one day they had it, but now, Taverna Angelica is an expensive place that doesn’t worth it at all.

+2We had such an amazing evening at Taverna Angelica! We decided to go for the tasting menu with the wine pairings and it's impossible to say which part we liked better! The matchings were spectacular, worked together just wonderfully. We also couldn't decide whether our waitress or our sommelier were more charming, kind and accomodating. Truly wonderful people. I'm a pescatarian and the chef had no problem at all adjusting the tasting menu to my dietary restrictions. Wonderful evening, so much lovelier than expected! ????

We booked Luca’s “Surprise” Easter Menu for Easter Sunday Dinner. We arrived early and they hadn’t opened, but kindly let us in anyway. Service was excellent and well timed. Food was delicious and unexpected - eg. warm filled pasta with frozen peas, which was amazing! We ordered matching wine and the Sommelier chose excellent food pairings. We enjoyed a wonderful evening and highly recommend! Close to Vatican so great for a Fine Food and Wine experience after a Vatican visit :)

If you look for some secret places with a Michelin star experience, this is one of them. Largely undermarketed restaurant with an old school interior but nevertheless it is one of the leading players on the Rome’s gourmet scene.

Food is exceptional!!! And a few amuse-bouches on the house to set us up for the meal ahead. Well worth a visit if you are looking somewhere close to the vatican
