A friendly taverna tucked up a side street beside a football pitch. The mackerel on toast was a great starter. We had octopus and sea bass fillet Portuguese style - both were delicious. A bottle of Algarve red was the perfect addition. Then a few bites of the very rich Algarve special dessert (a dense cheesecake with honey and chocolate) to share left us full and happy. All the staff were friendly and spoke English, we had a lovely evening.

Great little restaurant tucked away of the beaten track. Serving regular restaurant dishes and traditional Portuguese food. The portion sizes were good, steak cooked as to how I requested. Very attentive staff giving an overall good experience. I would fully recommend this restaurant. Look it up, you won’t be disappointed.

This is a lovely Portuguese restaurant, with a varied menu, which caters for most tastes We had steaks, and lamb chops, both of which were cooked perfectly and were delicious. There were some vegan and vegetarian dishes.The staff were friendly and very efficient. I would recommend a visit, I will certainly return.

Ok first the good point, staff were very pleasant. Sadly it was downhill from there , ordered vegetable soup brought French onion soup instead. We queried and the waitress just said there are vegetables in the French onion soup. About an hour later we were served underwhelming mains. Such a disappointment especially as it was the first evening of our holiday. Reviews looked good but it was a fail for us. Plenty of great restaurants around.

Service was extremely slow even thoughbthere were only 3 tables max. The ribs weren't very good either. We didn't eat them. My diameter did enjoynthe pasta though and the seabass was good even though it was an extremely small piece. Not awful but I probably wouldn't go again.

The staff were great with the kids, really friendly, enthusiastic and welcoming. Great food, brilliant value for money! Every plate was clean! Lovely cocktails and even had a cheeky shot! Will definitely go back. Couldn’t fault!

It was our first time visiting Taverna, the piri piri chicken was the best we've ever had and we've certainly tried more than a few! The sea bream and accompaniments were also cooked to perfection. The service was fantastic, friendly and so efficient. There is nothing at all we would fault. So good, we've booked to visit again!

Really good food and cocktails Service was friendly and helpful Slight downside. The bar next-door is a sports bar, so if you are outside, you can hear the commentary (in our case, rugby) Overall, it was a really good experience

To sun up. It’s a huddle gem!!!! The food is very traditional Portuguese cooking. So fresh, and authentic. The decor very simple and not the reason you would come to this restaurant. If you’re looking for flash and fizzle without the substance, don’t go there. If you want to eat amazing food, and be served by honest and hospitable staff, this is the place for you! We were a family of 5. Ranging from 12 to 84 and they had something for everyone. My wife initially ordered a glass of wine. When we decided to buy the bottle, instead of charging us for the glass and getting another bottle, they offered to just give the bottle that they opened for my wife. And didn’t charge for the glass. Which is what most restaurants would do. Truly honest people. We had prawns appetizer, garlic bread, piri piri chicken, sea bass, cod, dorado, and chicken fingers for the younger one. Everything was just amazing!
