9.5/10This relaxed seafood restaurant provided a delicious meal at reasonable cost. I had moules which were in a delicious sauce and my husband had a reallybeautifully cooked piece of haddock.

10/10We were pleasantly surprised with this restaurant, it’s a small cozy place in the city centrum. The staff was attentive and nice, checked often on us if we needed something else or if everything was good. We had the daily starter and the bread with anchovy and sea weed butter as a starter, which was super tasty and then we went for the classic fish and chips and mashed peas, we were too full to finish the peas or the chips honestly but everything was delicious

10/10We really enjoyed our Friday night at The Good Companion. The restaurant is compact but we were comfortable sat by the kitchen, which gave a great view of everything going on, and gives confidence. The food was excellent. We started with fresh oysters and a side of bread/butter. For mains my wife had the Bouillabaisse while I had their catch of the day (bream), and both were delicious. Wine was very nice and respectably priced. We would definitely return the next time we are in Amsterdam.

10/10We were looking forward to seafood like at home in New Orleans, and we were not at all disappointed. The waiter/bartender was making an impressive effort to serve the whole restaurant. Later we found out he was the owner. He said his employee had had an accident so there he was! But you could tell he he knew what it takes to make his restaurant a success.

10/10Cozy restaurant with informal atmosphere. Rich fish menu with different options. Very innovative cocktails and fantastic fish&chips ( very light and not oily). High quality with reasonable prices.

10/10Four of us ate at the restaurant last Thursday and as requested we had a table outside. The food choice and quality was excellent particularly the sea bass and the mussels. The restaurant ambience matched that of the surrounding area. Would definitely book again when next in Amsterdam.

10/10This was my third meal at The Good Companion. As before, the service was impeccable. Our waiter, Floris, made good recommendations and treated us with warmth. We enjoyed amazingly fresh oysters (in August!) and cockles to start, following up with fish and chips. The contrast between the perfectly tender cod and the crisp batter crust was exactly what I was hoping for. Very good house wine, to boot.

9.5/10The small restaurant provides a small but great choice of fresh seafood using excellent ingredients and combinations of herbs. Also their deserts are worth checking out. An excellent choice to diverse your tasting experience! Staff is friendly and helps you in your choices if you're not sure what to eat.

8.5/10Great fish restaurant. We just choose all the 'tapas' instead of a main course. It would be nice to have a bit more options though. Service was excellent. The restaurant is located in the Jordaan, one of the nicest areas in Amsterdam.

10/10It is a restaurant that knows what it is, a seafood restaurant. Not super fancy, but a step up from the basic seafood restaurant. The menu has a wide variety of items. I had the oysters and they were excellent. Also had the fish and chips which were really good. Casual atmosphere.

10/10This was my second time at the restaurant, but the first time for dinner. We started with razor clams (scrumptious!) and oysters; for mains we had the deep-fried smoked haddock (a unique dish I've never encountered elsewhere) and a bouillabaisse. Even the home-made dulce-de-leche ice cream was outstanding! Many thanks to our waiter, Enno, who took good care of us.

8.5/10Great little busy restaurant in the Old Town of Amsterdam. What we liked was the seafood being super fresh. We had oysters, mussels, ceviche and fish and chips. The service was attentive to us. Maybe a little draw back are the face that not much desserts are proposed onto the menu. For us it didn’t matter but for people in need of desserts to finish their dinner might be a little miss. If we are back in town, I would like to come back their for dinner
