6/10This year we found the service had really declined. When we entered the restaurant, I told the lady at the front we had a reservation. She promptly marked off the book, took some menus and walked to a table leaving us behind her. Not a Hello or this way or anything!! Meal was fine. We were finished main course and the bill was put on our table. We had half a bottle of wine left and intended to have dessert. It was 9.45pm and the restaurant was half empty so they didn’t need the table. 10 minutes after we had paid the bill, another waitress came to ask if we wanted to order dessert or coffee. We left the restaurant without any acknowledgment at all. Just sad to see the service fall so much from one year to another

Hi Petrice I'm sorry you didn't enjoy our service. I personally welcome everyone and sit them to the table as I did with you.. apologies if my welcoming didn't fit your expectations... When you arrived I had 50 people having dinner at the same time so sometimes we can not being as friendly as you expect because we are working. I'll check your table a few times and everything was ok. I have a new waitress working (2days) and she mistake the table number for the bill...we are also humans beings and make mistakes but is as simple as saying that you didn't ask for the bill.

8/10Had a great meal at Villa Vehla. Very varied menu offering something different. We had a great Paella. Thought starters and deserts were very expensive. Very good attentive service. Will return.

We were really excited after recommendations to try the paella. The starter were lovely, duck samosa and crab and prawn croquettes. Loved the touch of a little parapet of basil sauce and one of of spicy sauce. The paella however was presented nicely but all the fish was over cooked and felt like it had been held in the oven and not cooked in the traditional way. Taste was fine but not the best. Overall a nice experience, restaurant was nice and cool, good local wine and good service

10/10Excellent food and service. We would highly recommend. Very friendly front of house. Chef greeted us and told us all about the dishes. We are a family of 3 and 2 of us are fussy eaters but we all really enjoyed each dish.

6/10Food was just mediocre and I had expected better given the good reviews this restaurant has received. Myself and my son had the mixed paella which was just ok, quite dry and portion size was small for us. My wife had the oxtail and said it was very nice. Starters were mediocre at best. I cannot see why this is currently rated number 1 on trip advisor for restaurants in Alvor. Plenty of other restaurants in Alvor that have better food and ambience. This was just about ok. The biggest concern from our visit here was my wife vomiting a number of times 6 hours post this meal, I cannot say that this was as a result of the food and may be coincidental but there was no other obvious cause and she recovered within 24hrs. This alone would make us reluctant to return.

We are at a variety of restaurants during our stay in Alvor, but Vila Velha was by far the best. The food was absolutely delicious on both occasions we visited. Beautifully presented, cooked to perfection and lots of choice too. The staff were so friendly, helpful and polite, and the service was excellent.

A warm welcome, delicious food and excellent service. Great variety on the menu and very reasonably priced too. I will definitely be returning and would highly recommend this lovely restaurant.

10/10Simply the best meal and fillet steak I can remember eating. Beautifully cooked, lovely accompaniments and a wonderful atmosphere outside. The Pao Bao Chicken and Pork wrap starters were something else! Villa Velha is highly Recommended!

Chef Albert and his team prepared the best paella we ever tasted. We were in Portugal for 12 days, and at the end we all voted this was the best meal of the vacation. Highly recommend.

What a fabulous meal we had here. From start to finish. I had the samosas to start which were very tasty but my partner’s chicken pao was the winner, I was lucky to get a taste. My fillet steak with fois gras was to die for, this was no ordinary steak. I sent my compliments to the chef who was kind enough to come out and greet us. I was so taken up with my tasty meal I didn’t ask for a taste of my partners pork which he assured me was very tasty. Definitely one to book
