+3Creative and delicious food, warm and friendly service, luxurious and classy atmosphere and setting. Overall a wonderful dining experience. We ordered the tasting menu, one vegetarian and the other "from land and sea" (with fish). The chef is know for making creative gastronomic vegetarian dishes, so all the veggy courses were very tasty. Wine list is not huge, but features some interesting local whites and reds. Definitely give this restaurant a try if you are in town. You won't regret the experience.

One of my favorite restaurants in Barcelona as a vegetarian. I stopped in after an annual conference I attend and the carrot risotto paired with a Tempranillo and the strawberry desert with “challenging” but tasty ice creams were the standouts this year/season. The wine pairing was excellent and the service was really great. My servers all did a fantastic job on explaining wines, regions and grapes, etc. and I have a nice list to see if I can find now that I’m home.

7.5/10Great ambience, suited well for a nice Christmas family dinner. The Gastrobotanica tasting menu we chose had creative and tasteful appetizers, and warm salad but the main course Risotto was average and desert was too creative for us, especially with the overpowering of onion and celery in the gelato. Service was fine but we felt we were upsold on a bread for 24 euro that is unnecessary, especially if you already chose the tasting menu. The waiter could have been more thoughtful about that before giving the idea and implying that appetizers could take time and bread may be a good idea (the appetizers course arrived before the bread was served). There was also too much of wait after the main course with no one attending to our table. Made it good for a nice Christmas family dinner, but the food and service, for the price we paid, did not make it compelling to make this a must-do next time.

9.5/10Suprisingly progressiv and great experince! Good wine pairing with focus on Spanish bio wines. We really enjoyed the focus on vegetable dishes with Catalunia influence. Delightfull! Highly recommended.

9.5/10The excellent food, lots of vegetable dishes, healthy food in a top way cooked! Recommend especially the Cream Catalan of Pumpkin....a dream! Very knowledgeable service staff, explaining the food, the wine etc. Top restaurant! We will come back!

the service was very friendly. In addition, they are good at making delicious cocktails. A big disappointment was the quality of the food, the sea bass was raw while the duck we ordered was very overcooked. all in all, especially considering the high price of the restaurant, this is a very disappointing experience. We advise people not to go to this restaurant.

We absolutely loved the food here. Many vegetarian options but with a special flare. Unique combinations of foods - favorite was spinach and kale croquettes and zucchini ratatouille with light béchamel sauce followed by the pumpkin infused Catalan crème brûlée. Service was super! Will be back!

Some distes were excellent, but a few were extreme disappointing, especially the eggplant was tasteless Further the tasting .enus that were offered wer not possible to choose from at the table, as we had to take the same one all of us. Why offer the choice then? The tasting .enus turned out to be all the same with an admisión of one fish dish to the land and water choice. For a restaurant that pretends to offer high quality it was below expectativa.

+5The starters and main course were really good. We didn’t like the desserts for portions and the combination at the end of the meal. The wine pairings was not matching with the courses. Th ambience is very nice and the service attentive. The restaurant has a good potential but needs some works and the bread course and it’s refill is not part of the menu and they are bringing to you as extra but this is not clear until the bills comes.

7.5/10Service was excellent but the dishes in the taster menu were disappointing overall and there is only one mocktail in the menu. Many of the dishes were on the sour side which meant they did not complement each other well. One of the dishes was oversalted.

4/10A Bitter disappointment. Based on the reviews, the Menu and the price level we expected a refined dinner experience. The interior of the restaurant is pleasant enough, the staff is trying to be nice and customer oriented but lacks experience. The problem is that the Food is not matching the Quality one is justly expecting. The first four courses of a six course menu were fine, the main course however was a deep disappointment and the Desert less than medioker.

7.5/10There was technical excellence and interesting ideas, but I was disappointed in the flavor profiles. We had the 8-course vegetarian tasting menu. Highlights were the carrot soup of the first course and the carrot risotto as the last entree. A low point for me was the red pepper with egg yolk and caviar - a minor point is that we'd have preferred a slightly more cooked yolk to make the texture jammy, but the seasoning and spices were just off, Other courses tasted better but for me they were not delicious, just good. At this level of cuisine, you want to see creativity and technique, but you also want to have to restrain yourself from licking the plate.

6/10This was just disappointing: appetizers were served with huge wait between first and second order; forgot to bring water and had to remind them (sounds silly but don’t expect this from this level of restaurant); cherry on top was asking for a wine recommendation and thinking price would be around 30-35 euro, which is the usual standard unless you inform the customers: they brought a 58 euro bottle! Waiters just seem to be unbothered, even with 5 people walking around our table it was impossible to catch their attention. Not worth for what we paid, way better choices in Barcelona for fine dining.

Virens is a Barcelona gem. It’s one of the best vegetarian tasting menus with a nice wow factor in the presentation and taste of each dish. Combined with the wine pairing option, I personally find this to be an outstanding value for a Michelin restaurant. The service was also strong with the team taking the time to explain each dish and the wine.
