10/10Two Americans in Lisbon for the first time. The staff made us feel so comfortable and welcome. They helped us order and made great recommendations. The octopus was the best we have tasted and dessert was fabulous. Would definitely recommend. This is also not in a busy area, so you don’t have to be too stressed by crowds. There’s other businesses around too that we visited and enjoyed. Overrall just a wonderful experience.

10/10Ah, stepping into Maria Peixeira after a long flight felt like a warm embrace. Greeted with genuine hospitality, they whisked away the fatigue of a 16-hour journey. Surprisingly, I found myself comfortably seated even before the appointed time, savoring the anticipation of a culinary journey. The menu unfolded like a love letter to the sea. The octopus salad danced with freshness, the basil butter hinted at herbaceous perfection, and the oysters and razor clams sang the symphony of the ocean. The special cod was a revelation, a testament to the chef's artistry. To complement the maritime feast, I indulged in vinho verde, a lively companion, and a white wine from Alentejo, transporting me to the sun-kissed vineyards of Portugal. Saving the best for last, Grandma's creme brulée was a sweet embrace of tradition and indulgence. Each spoonful revealed layers of creamy nostalgia, concluding the meal on a high note. A special nod to Alex and Ricardo and the team who orchestrated this culinary masterpiece on a Sunday evening, going above and beyond to make my first meal in Portugal an absolute delight. Maria Peixeira, where every bite tells a story and every sip feels like a celebration.

9/10Traveling to Portugal for a much needed vacation, this restaurant was recommended to us. It was a short walk from our hotel. We went. The service was good. Very attentive. The atmosphere was good and quality of food was good and tasty. If I had to say something that needed more attention was my fries. I had a NY cut steak and it was tasty and hot. The fries on the other hand were less than room temperature and I would have liked them to be hot. Other than that everything was spot on delicious.

5.5/10Food was oversalted and fish and prawns were overcooked. Very disappointing food for a high price. The four of us took different dishes and none of them was good. We ingested calories, that's it Service is excellent and waiters are warm and friendly. This is the only positive thing about the place, along with the fact it is conveniently located next to the Gulbenkian museum (and recommended by the lonely planet guide). The reason why the food is so so?

10/10Incredible experience! The waiters speak multiple languages, are so friendly and always smiling (specially Patricia!). The food was spectacular, the octopus is one of the best I've ever eaten! Prices are fair for the service and quality of food. Without a doubt, a place to recommend and return to!

10/10We chose to eat on the patio outside. The restaurant is located in a quiet residential area with blossoming trees and neighbors on an evening walk with their dogs. A very tranquil environment. The two servers provided were genuine and engaging providing seamless service at a wonderful pace. They took great pride in both their service and their food. The food was incredibly fresh from the octopus salad, tuna tartare to their cod dish. The portions were generous and the quality was outstanding. They provided a taste of a couple of wines to determine what would be best with our meal. The pairing was very good. At the end of our meal, we were introduced to the chef who asked us for our feedback. The food was tremendous and the staff were wonderful. Would definitely return.

10/10We were staying two doors down from Maria Peixeria - Avenidas and were tired and hungry our first night in Lisbon so decided to give it a shot. Beat expectations. Perfect balance of fine and casual ambiance matched with top-notch service from a crack team of sharp men who know proper service. The food was excellent and a very good value for Lisbon. We liked it so much that we made it our final dinner before leaving Lisbon too and were treated like regulars. From the octopus salad served as part of the couvert to the octupus and shrimp risotto to the fish soup and oysters and truly good wine all at a fair price, we fell in love with the place and will return.

8/10In these popular restaurants don’t ever make a reservation. It’s useless. You always have to wait to be seated. It is a pity because the food is outstanding but the service can’t manage such a high demand. After waiting almost an hour, nothing compensate the upsetting and frustration whaterver the upcoming service does.

8/10We had a wonderful time at Maria Peixeria. The food was delicious and the team were great, particularly Migueal! The ink prawn risotto was particularly nice. It's a bit far removed from the center of Lisbon so if you wanted to go out after you would struggle.

2.5/10Just awful food. 3 Of us Were sick just after. The shrimps a guilho are not well cooked, it s a weird recipe, acid and my friend had náuseas and pain after. The risotto is too salty, the ceviche also is not well prepared as they certainly put the lemon long time ago. I and my other friend Were sick after the oysters. Pain in the stomach, náuseas, sweating…. Shortly i saw thé good note and choose This restaurant but seriously don’t go.
