8/10Nothing special considering the very high prices charged. Which should include a printed menu rather than a QR code to look at it. We were given a list of recommendations and after ordering one the waiter came later to say they had run out of it. Odd because the restaurant was virtually empty, which also speaks to what madrileños may think of this restaurant. On the bright side the service was very attentive.

9.5/10Rafe is a very good fish restaurant with a great selection of crustaceans; the Gallaecian Oysters were very excellent! The service was exemplary. For some reason our reservation had been 'lost', but they found us a table even though the restaurant was full by 1430h? the ambiance was excellent with a light modern décor in a traditional service environment. Look forward to a revisit!

About the restaurant
A dos pasos del Parque del Retiro, este restaurante con solera es el lugar idóneo para comer un marisco de primera en Madrid. Un local tradicional, con un servicio profesional y atento, que nos sorprenderá con una selección de percebes, gambas blancas y cigalas de gran calidad. Mariscos que conviven con carnes que se han convertido también en un referente en la zona: desde el cordero lechal castellano a sus platos de caza de temporada. Por no hablar de las tapas que se sirven en su barra, que van desde un salpicón de marisco de altura hasta un gran ibérico o su popular ensaladilla rusa.
Y es que este restaurante lleva cincuenta años ofreciendo al personal una cocina honesta y trabajada, con una máxima: producto, producto y más producto. Una filosofía que se ha mantenido inamovible desde que los hermanos Rafael y Rodrigo Andrés llegaron de su Guadalajara natal con los mejores manjares de su tierra. Desde entonces han evolucionado, pero nunca perdido su esencia, el halo de aquel Madrid del siglo XX que se mantiene intacto en su elegante comedor de estética cuidada y minimalista.
No hay que dejar escapar su amplia selección de champagnes, que forma parte de una carta de vinos amplia y cuidada.
