9.5/10Taste and presentation is excellent, some food tend to be on the sweeter side (perhaps our selection). Overall a nice friendly place.

9.5/10A really lovely place. Our table was ready when we arrived, the staff were very friendly, explained how many dishes we should order and gave recommendations. All of the food was great. The drinks were very reasonably priced too. Only thing not to make it a 10 was it was quite hard to get the staff attention at times as it was very busy. Definitely recommended.

7.5/10The actual restaurant was closed for refurbishing and they sent us to Petiscaria Ideal 2 doors down. I had been to this place many years ago and remember really enjoying it. Last night was a bit different. Foodwise had some hits and misses, the Camarão Ideal was a winner, and the Prego as well, everything else was okay. Service was friendly, young waiters, sometimes less professional while talking and hanging behind the counter, but overall attentive. The atmosphere was not as I remember, place seemed a bit cold, lighting wasn't inviting - in fact above our table there were wires hanging and no ceiling lamp. Hopefully they will go back to their glory days, when everyone mentioned this place for its food quality but everyting else too!

10/10This is a fantastic restaurant that gets my highest recommendation. We were here in 2019 and had an exceptional experience and it is as great as ever again this time on our visit in 2023. The food is absolutely delicious, creative, and inspiring. The service was so amazing. Our server, Gi, was one of the best servers that I have ever had in a dining experience. I can't thank her enough for all of the wonderful service and hospitality and for helping to make the start of our trip in Portugal so wonderful. We will be back many times in the future! Obrigado!

10/10The restaurant was full of mainly locals, with several large tables where you all sit together in a relaxed atmosphere. The owners were very welcoming and made welcome menu suggestions. They were very accommodating to my food intolerances. Tapas style where you chose several dishes to share.

10/10What an amazing find! Thank you to our hotel staff, Lisbon Cheese & Wine, for recommending this great restaurant! We had amazing service and an awesome meal with the recommendations from our waitress, Gisele! Great food, wine and service!!! We will definitely return!

10/10Thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Taberna da Esperanca. Our server gave excellent recommendations and every dish we had was delicious. The tenderloin, in particular, was phenomenal. Could easily eat here several more times, but there’s too much else we need to try during our short visit to Lisbon.

10/10Best meal we ate in Lisbon! I booked here for a large group of 12, after lots of other restaurants didn't reply to my enquiries, and when we arrived a very tidy long table had been prepared for us. The server was incredibly kind and really looked after us for the entire meal. She recommended 5 dishes that we ordered 4 times to share amongst the 12 of us, all of which were absolutely incredible. My personal favourites were the 'ideal shrimp' and the pork stew, which had been slow cooked and was insanely tender! Best of all, after stuffing ourselves with food, beer, espresso and an after-dinner shot, the bill only came to about 34 euro each; what a bargain! If you come to Lisbon in a large group, I highly recommend you avoid tourist traps like Time Out Market and come to a traditional Taberna like this one. Muito Obridgada!!!

10/10Our group definitely enjoyed this experience with everyone raving about the quality of the foods, the relaxed environment and friendly staff. Tasty portuguese food with a twist to share with friends and they were even happy to accommodate a birthday cake in their fridge for our dessert. I'm coming back soon.
