Hello-we are retired couple, foodies, traveling intensely for a long time. Our menu choices: venison tartar, venison medalion with truffles and fried eggs with truffles. Tartar arrived first, unfortunately it was 100% beef not venison! I'm hunting for a long time, I know game meat! Then after approx. 45 after asking about main dishes plates landed on the table. Eggs with truffles no problems, but venison medalion with truffles -big surprise! Four tiny oval chunks of meat is not a medalion, again it wasn't venison and no truffles in visible form! Menu states that truffles are additionally charged to the market price 28-45€. Fair, but were are the truffles? Questionned waitress was ignorant and became angry, later apologized. Plate was taken and quickly retuned with traces of dried truffle powder. Thankfully grappa saved our evening. Summary - substituting and not delivering dish ingredients is not a joke, it is a stealing from customer. More it is undermining restaurant and turism busin

Found A Balus by chance on first night in city. Only downside will be that we may have peaked on dinner #1. Absolutely outstanding meal from start to finish. Waitstaff exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable. I would consider going back anytime.

We visited this nice restarant based on recommendations with big hopes of excellent food celebrating my husband's birthday. Lovely and elegant restaurant! Unfortunately the food was a bit disappointment: apetizers vegetable suffles were missing salt. Secondi tortellini in broth - the broth did not taste anything but hot water, did not help even if we put a lot of Parmesan on top of it. The plates were taken back to the kitchen and after a little while we got new portions were the broth was clearly made of hot water and bouillon cubes - we did not eat them. The waiters did not even regret this, but seemed to be more or less hurt or angry. The main course was of top quality: sliced beef in grill & roasted potatoes. Finally when leaving the restaurant we got 'sorry' from the waiter.

This restaurant food is overrated. The food, we ordered 2 pasta dishes and they were barely ok. The pasta was tasteless and the water was not salted. We saw the 4.5 rating and wanted to have a good food experience. I should have known based on the semi empty restaurant. Maybe it was not a good chef day? The service was just OK, not much contact or even concern whether the food experience was going well. We tipped and left never to return.

The food was delicious. All four of us loved our food. The tagliatelle with ragu was amazing. As was the lasagne. The restaurant is beautiful inside with big windows and skylights providing lots of natural light. We were relieved that the restaurant was pleasantly air conditioned. It was extremely hot outside and the cool air was a welcome relief. The service was friendly. We were impressed with the quality and freshness of the entrees especially at such reasonable prices. We would absolutely eat here again.

We had a large group of 10 and we were all taken care of! The food was delicious and the service was great. This dinner was a thank you for the team that worked during the book fair. We will go back again next year!

A delightful restaurant near the center of town. Excellent food. The steak tartare is memorable. Traditional, but exceptional quality to the beef. The tortellini A Balus is a star - have not had better. The server suggested a local wine, a savignon blanc, also memorable. Local, casual, but delicious.

I actually book a table just for myself, which was kind of awkward for me, but the waiter was very welcoming and polite so I loved that. The atmosphere was perfect and the food... ❤️ Tortellini a balus is a must for sure.

A Balus is a very special restaurant. We enjoyed several evenings of wonderful food and the staff were so friendly. It was just a great place to be and we would highly recommend it.

+2A nice restaurant in the center of Bologna, with traditional regional dishes. The service has been very attentive and are able to provide a good hint of the menu. Primi piatti are higher level than secondi piatti. We highly recommend to order Tortellini A’ Balus.

The food was fine but very average. Nothing to go out of your way for. Waiting 30 minutes for the check after multiple assurances it was coming was somewhat aggravating.

We have been in Emilia Romagna for two weeks and have eaten some amazing meals. Lunch today at this restaurant was right up there with the best. Tortelloni with mushroom sauce and the tortellini with truffles were so good! And the roasted potatoes were delicious!

This is a hidden gem, in a quiet area. The ambiance was great, with clean and spacious dining areas. The food was amazing! Would definitely recommend it!

The resturant interior was nice. The staff knowledgeable and personable. Our starter was good. Our second course - duck was excellent, but COLD ratatouile ? And Scottana beef and potatoes were not good.. The wine was good.
