An upscale restaurant just off the Piazza Sant'Oronzo. Pricey but good quality. We sat outside, which was pleasant in the early evening. As an upscale restaurant should, they offer an amuse bouche (on our visit this was an interesting barely-based dish) and a bread plate with half a dozen different offerings (all quite good). My main dish of veal cheek was particularly tasty and tender. Unlike many such spots, Alex offers wine by the glass, at a reasonable cost, besides their large selection of bottles (some astronomically priced). We were a bit hesitant to dine here because the reviews seemed all over the place: some praised the menu, others complained it was nothing special, but in the end we came down on the plus side. I wouldn't quite place Alex in the absolute top echelon, nonetheless our experience was very positive. Recommended.

We opted for tuna and got smth resembling a goulash - overcooked, dry and shredded to pieces. Pasta was lukewarm. When we got it we understood why our seafood plate was snatched from the table the second we raised our forks with the last bits - it has been waiting for some time already. The service? We felt guilty that we came. We made a reservation almost two weeks before due to very good reviews. Maybe it was the wrong night.

The staff were standing at the door when we arrived and were unfriendly from the moment we stepped inside. They need to be reminded of who pays their salary although management seemed to be setting g the tone. Food wasn’t good enough to make up for their attitudes.

We loved the gran crudo plate, both fish dishes were great, as was the unique Tiramisou. The chardonnay wine bottle went well with our dishes. We enjoyed our meal.

Lovely interior. Easy to reserve. Excellent service that was professional and friendly, without being too formal. We had a multi-course meal and everything, without exception, was fresh, flavorful and beautifully presented. The menu offered some items you expect from an Italian seafood restaurant, and enough unique choices to have a more adventuresome culinary experience.

A higher end restaurant. Pretty dining room, although some of the artwork is kind of hideous. Service was very courteous and professional although I thought that the staff failed convey the warmth and welcome that I associate with Puglia. Food was very good. Risotto was exceptional. Additional seasonal menu of dishes with white or black truffles was fairly priced. Overall prices were not cheap but good value for the quality and presentation. I had been postponing dining here because I had heard mixed reviews from friends; however I was duly impressed by the experience and will likely return soon.

2 Starters: scallops and taglione both delicious....but overpriced. 2 mains: A few scampi in breadcrumbs sitting on some lettuce leaves...30euro. Veal cheek with spinach.....all too salty 30euro. Again massively overpriced. Pistachio ice cream for dessert was very nice. Bottle of Rose wine at 25e also very nice. An occasional smile from staff wouldn't go astray. Will definitely not be going back. Love Lecce though.

The food was very good, but the service was a little slow and they didn’t come around to the table to see if we needed anything. We ordered a fish that they said weighed 1400 grams, and when we got the bill, it was 1650 grams. I think they should have weighed the fish before they told us the weight.

We have been 3 days/nights in Lecce and we went to Alex Ristorante 4 (four!!!!) times. It is simply the best for us. It's the atmosphere, it's the service, it's the quality of food, it's the boss with eyes everywhere and it's his nice wife he is "hiding" in the kitchen as the Chef of the kitchen. Thank you for the time we could spend in your Ristorante. Franz and Claudia, we come again on August 31, 2023.....
