Antica Osteria Cavallini is still the stalwart of italian cuisine in Milan. Great dishes at reasonable prices price - it's not cheap, but it's worth every penny. Great winelist and service to match. Highly recommended.

I came to the restaurant two times during my travel to Milan. On my first visit, both food and service is good. I had the scallops and sea brass. The waiter is very friendly and attentive. However, I am very disappointed with my 2nd visit. The food is not good at all. and the wait staff are always in hurry. I will definitely not return. There are other good Milanese restaurants such as Mamma Rose which I enjoy very much.

Lovely atmosphere in a garden (tho sealed off for warmth) of twinkling lights. Great classic food...wonderful osso bucco and good steak, cooked perfectly. Reasonable cost. A good restaurant very near the train station.

Really bad service and mediocre food. They didn’t get a single thing that we ordered right and we had to ask several times for various things. It took very long to get every single thing that we ordered and the food wasn’t very good. I recommend you to go somewhere else.

Obvious tourist trap. Referred by hotel, struck by the poor response by front of house. When showed to the courtyard it’s warm, without a breeze despite many fans and just too hot. Sitting inside is awkward as it’s entirely empty and devoid of waiters. The service is poor, waiters don’t know if they have juice for the and need to be reminded 3 times before returning with an answer. What seems more important to them appears to be selling you on the catch of the day which is terribly overpriced at 80 euros per kilo. Uncooked weight. When we asked to order something else we were told it was not as good. How dumb can you be? We would’ve walked out if we didn’t have hungry children with us. The food was ok. The sea bream with mashed potatoes was not bad, although a bit on the bland side. The pasta nicely al dente but nothing special flavor wise. The meatballs tasted like MSG. Then came the rose salesman, sealing the deal of this tourist trap. There’s many better restaurants in Milan

The food was not tasty.. something was wrong with the pastas, mine was too salty, my friend’s pasta was plain, with no taste… the scallops were not bad, but I expected more from this restaurant. Regret spending time here on my last night in Milano :((

We had dinner there. The outdoor dining area was very nice and cool even on a warm day. The server only stopped by our table for the food and drink orders. We had to wave her down to ask for additional bottle of water. Food was okay. We ordered the fried calamari and crawfish (called red shrimp), tagliatelle with bolognese, veal ossobuco with risotto, and sea bass with asparagus and tomato. I’ve seen so many reviews that the seafood is fresh but the sea bass wasn’t and the texture tasted like lean catfish fillet and not the rich and oily sea bass that you would expect.

Garden setting is beautiful. Our first impression of our server was positive but rapidly deteriorated. Told him I wanted a glass of dry white wine and he asked me if he could bring his recommendation…. What he brought was horrible and sweeter. He took our orders … then came back to ask what starter we had ordered… he came back ten minutes later to ask which entrees we had ordered. He volunteered he would hold the entrees until we signalled him. The entrees came before starters were finished without any request by us. Food was OK but nothing special. Took forever to get the check so we could pay. Nice setting but would not recommend based on service and food

Loved the decor of this place. We ordered Milanese food which was tasty, although we were somewhat disappointed with the magical came and tiramisu. It wasn't anything special. Considering the steep price we paid, we felt the service was a let down. Maybe because we weren't locals. We felt ignored and somewhat rushed even though the restaurant wasn't even busy. The waiter who served us was rude, clearing my husband's plate even though I was still eating and took away our bread which we were planning to have later during the meal. I wouldn't come back here any time soon.

This was our second visit to this restaurant, after one year we came back to Milan and had to come back to ANTICA OSTERIA CAVALLINI. The wait staff is so kind and friendly, the food is incredible and the garden is one of the most beautiful locations in the world. Thank you for another great visit, can’t wait to see you all again.

Yearly at the furniture fair Salone Mobile - The Design Institute from Norway are excited to dine at Antica Osteria Cavallini. We are very greatfull for the fantastic Milanese food, excellent service and the best atmosphere. Thanx!
