7/10When we stepped inside. We were initially so impressed by Antica Osteria Cavallini. The restaurant, particularly the courtyard, was so beautiful. But things went quickly downhill. We are not tourist-diners. We live in Europe and travel all over. Yet it felt like we were treated like tourists. I suspect this place gets a lot of tourists waiting for trains at the central rail station but that reality should not influence their service. Every waiter, save for one, looked stressed. No happiness evident. When I passed the semi-open kitchen, the severe looks on the wait staff were everywhere. This is not a happy restaurant and that unhappiness affects the customers. I wish I could that nonetheless the food was great. It was not. It was mediocre and rushed at us. And then they didn’t even have gelato at the end despite the menu seeming to highlight how good it was. All-in-all, a disappointing end to our time in Milano.

5.5/10Food and restaurant were both nice enough. But during our third visit the service was poor. Multiple waiters “attempted” to attend our table leaving empty plates on the table for 30 minuets until we asked for them to be removed. Another 20 minutes until desert was offered and so on. Basically a sloppy service during a quiet evening - disappointing and will not return.

The food and atmosphere were truly excellent. However, it was unfortunate that the process of settling the bill was significantly delayed. While I understand that the restaurant was busy, I had to ask for the check twice, and even then, I ended up waiting for about 30 minutes without any response. In the end, I went to the payment counter myself and completed the transaction with my card. I sincerely hope the staff will take this experience as constructive feedback and work to improve in the future.

8.5/10Friendly wait staff. Very nice garden patio (with a few mosquitoes, but the staff gave use mosquito spray that worked). Excellent calamari fritti, good branzino, sea bream, pasta. Relaxing environment.

9/10We’re visiting from Chicago and made reservations for my wife’s birthday on the same day. Staff are superbly nice and attentive; ambience was cozy and has a very warm feel. My angus beef was nit done correctly and very tough. Had to be returned to be cooked better. Otherwise, I will recommend to friends.
