10/10I celebrated my wife's birthday at the restaurant. She loves Indian food. The food was authentic. Definitely the best Indian food i have had in Netherlands. The service was also great. We loved the ambience too. The owner is friendly and welcoming and even sent a surprise candle. It was gezellig!

3/10The host was rude. Asking us to put our sleeping 1 year old kid in a kids chair and refused us putting the stroller next to our table to keep him sleeping next to us. He made the whole experience at the restaurant Uncomfortable.

4.5/10I visited the restaurant at 1:10 PM and ordered chicken biryani. After about 10–20 minutes, an Indian family arrived, placed the same order as mine, and were served by around 1:45 PM. However, I still hadn’t received my food by then. I asked the staff why my order was delayed and why others were being served before me, despite arriving earlier and ordering the same dish. Eventually, I received my food at 2:05 PM — nearly an hour after I ordered — which made me late for my flight. To make things worse, two other guests who came in after me also got their meals and finished eating before I was even served. This experience was disappointing and frustrating. I hope the restaurant improves its service and treats all customers fairly, regardless of their background or nationality.

Very slow service. we had reservations at 8:15 and were seated at 8:40 and food arrived at 9:40. Food was average. avoid the biryani it’s just flavored rice with tossed in meat not the real deal

10/10Great Indian restaurant in Amsterdam. We had samosas for starter. It was great. We had chicken biryani, the spice and the taste of the rice were really balanced and great. Will definitely recommend it to my friends and family.

10/10We visited Amsterdam in 2021 and loved everything about the Ashoka. We could not stop thinking about and talking about it to friends and family, so we returned to Amsterdam in April 2025 and couldn’t wait to have dinner again. We Enjoyed every aspect of the restaurant! Excellent!!!

10/10We really enjoyed our visit to Ashoka. Service was impeccable. We had the 3 course chef menu. We were able to choose the spice level for each dish. The food was delicious, although we're not fans of tofu. Our servers were very attentive and genuinely wanted to ensure everything was satisfactory. The trip up and down the spiral staircase to visit the restrooms might be a bit unnerving if you've had a few drinks. We'd love to return again.

8/10It's an upmarket Indian restaurant. The food is good, but we didn't feel it was forth the price difference with a good indian restaurant. The service was slow at first: had to ask for the food menu, the drinks took time to arrive. The atmosphere is very nice though, good light, romantic and classy. All in all a good experience but again not worth the price
