We have been coming to Armacao De Pera for the last 4 years and just happened to be staying in the same apartment block as Bistro 1956. What a stroke of luck. Beautiful food beautiful presentation great service absolutely couldn’t fault anything. Well worth a visit for the quality of the food and excellent value for money.

We had Christmas dinner here (normal service but on Christmas Day) and it was exceptional. Wonderful meat and seafood, and the owner / manager (unsure) was so attentive and friendly and personally thanked us for coming. Drinks also amazing and great value. A hidden gem!

Exceptionally friendly hosts greeted us at the door and consistently made us feel welcome! we were celebrating a special occasion and they were absolutely wonderful. the food was wonderful and exquisitely presented. thanks for a very special evening!

This was a surprise hit. Extremely friendly service, excellent food! We didn't expect to find anything like this hidden away amidst the concrete canyons of Armação de Pêra. Despite being surrounded by several apartment towers, there's actually a line of sight out to the ocean, and the place did carve out quite a nice spot for itself.

This place is amazing. The owner or manager is excellent and makes sure everyone is taken care of and the food is excellent.

Perfectly cooked food and excellent service! The Bistro 1956 Sangria is so good that you shouldn’t miss!

All of the dishes we have had are excellent. Portuguese steak, Risotto with shrimp, Monkfish and shrimp skewers, octopus all prepared with great flavour and taste. outside sea view and indoor seating. Staff very friendly and attentive.

Once again the food and service were amazing we were made to feel like special guests Antonio was wonderful even joined us for a drink and brought us a round of shots Would highly recommend visiting if you are in the area you won't be disappointed. Five star service .

Antonio was very welcoming and was a perfect host. I had a blue Ribeye and my wife the grilled octopus - both delicious. Many thanks and we'll be back soon! ☺️

Spectacular meal! My husband got the steak of the day which came with fries and a salad. He pushed away the salad and ate every last bite of the steak and fries and said it was incredibly delicious. Then reluctantly went to the salad and said ‘wow, even the salad is exceptional!’. It had red beet carpaccio and pomegranate seeds. Looked lovely. He rarely touches salads but finished this one : ) I had the rice with seafood for two which was enough for three. Wow! Just wow! The fresh herbs and light broth with large pieces of crab, shrimp and mussels made it so special. Just don’t wear a white blouse as the broth can splash a bit when cutting into the crab claws. Highly recommend! Would definitely dine there again. Our server, Antonio, was very kind and helpful.

A wonderful evening with a tentative but unintrusive service. The menu was wonderful and the wine list comparable. We had a wonderful evening and would certainly recommend this restaurant.

discovering this restaurant I have gone back several times in 2 and 1/2 months. if that's not enough recommendation I don't know what's stopping you from reserving a place there tonight.

+1I've lived in this town for over a year and I just discovered this restaurant. I couldn't be more angry. it was amazing. I went in managed expectations and thought it'd be pretty great it was phenomenal I think it's actually better than OliviMar in town.... I actually don't want to write this review because I may never be able to get a table again. it was that good pictures to follow

Deserves to be much busier! This is wonderful food at excellent prices and presently presented by an enthusiastic staff! We arrived and it was very quiet (and so yes, we were concerned) but the manager put us right at ease and we ordered from the menu and from the daily specials and could not have been happier with the results!! Our final evening in the area but we wish we could return here for more of their excellent cooking.

We had an outdoor table with view of ocean and sunsetting it was beautiful. Excellent service really lovely food and house wine very good! And at €3 for a generous glass great value. Would have no hesitation in recommending and indeed returning to.

This is a restaurant hidden away. We were a party of 18 and the staff were really helpful. All the food was freshly made and tasted superb. Will definitely visit again when we return to Armação de Pêra
