We returned to Bolboreta, and enjoyed it just as much the second time. If you like the food quality, originality and technique of Michelin lauded restaurants, but prefer to avoid the formality and prices, this is the place.

The restaurant is tastefully decorated and exudes a warm and welcoming atmosphere. There are noise deadening panels strategically placed on the ceiling, making conversation easy, not the usual thing in Madrid restaurants, where echo can make intimate chats difficult. Front of house is looked after by Patricia, who is excellent at describing the dishes and is also a seriously talented sommelier, so your choice off wine is made easy. The wine list is one of the strong points of this restaurant. Patricia has selected some of Spain’s best at very affordable prices. You can generally eat very well in Madrid but it’s not so easy to drink well. Here you can do this with astonishing ease. Aaron is a truly talented chef and I augur a great future for any gastronomic venture he is involved in. He cut his teeth in the tough world of high end cuisine in London. Then he worked in Michelin starred eateries in Madrid, His food is simply exceptional and so very imaginative. You have to try it.
